I was quoted by a dealership 140 dollars to replace spark plugs. Does anyone know of a place that doesnt charge as much :eek3:
spark plugs aren't bad to do yourself. I helped xn00dlesx do it once. Just follow the write-ups and it shouldn't take you too long. -- Brian
yeah I'm looking to do this as well in a couple of weeks...unfortunately I don't have the tools for the job though...so I might be paying someone to do them..
yeah I got a cel today (po304 cylinder 4 misfire dectected) so I may need mine done too called up sog and neil told me to put some techron fuel stuff in there and see if it helped before I bring it in. but I am @ the 60k+ mark and prob needs a tune up anyway.
Its really not hard. I didnt even have the right tools, I was working with a basic toolset. 1/4" socket wrench and extension with a sparkplug socket. Take the battery out, take the sprayer bottle out, pull the intake scoop, bust some knuckes and take them out.
hell come to bham bring 2 set and ill do both our cars in about 15 mins. or just one set and your camera. Thatnks for reminding me new thing to add to list with the other 900 things i need
Could you please post when/if you're going to do them? I have to do mine pretty soon too, so any tips will help...thanks!
Obviously do it first thing in the morning so the engine is cool. You take out the sprayer reservoir and battery, remove the intake snorkel, unclip the black plugs over the spark plugs, wedge a socket down in there and over the spark plug, and pull them out cursing the flat 4 layout the whole way. I found it easiest to put the socket on and then pop it onto the wrench down in the engine bay. Put the plugs in finger tight first to make sure they dont strip in the block, make sure they're gapped correctly.
I did a write up on it step by step a while ago George, search for it, if you need help let me know you can come over to the house and I can show you how. I've got it down to about 20 minutes now. Matt
