hello everyone, well im up to 88k miles and today my clutch started slipinn on 5th and according to my past experience I need to change my cluth, I need to do it this weekend so Im askin anyone who could give me some advice or tips or even better if someone will be willing to come and help or just come and supervice id greatly appreciate it, I will have drinks (including beer) and food for anyone willing to come and help out, again thanks to any one who can make it to help out a wrx owner. Ill be in a garage in lawrenceville on sugarloaf and old norcross.
awww man...if I would be any help I'd definitely stop by, seeing as though it's right down the road....good luck though...
Unfortunately, this weekend im booked. I would like to be apart of a clutch install though, I need to do one here in the near future.
I can come and help but i don't have a lot of mechanical experience. I've seen a walkthrough in superstreet magazine, i believe, on how to change a wrx clutch, and you need some special tools. Let me know if you want me to come.
You don't need no special tools. All you need is a bolt of a certain size (dunno but it's in my tool bag) and a 10, 12, 14, 17mm socket set and wrenches. Oh and some muscle power
hrm....i am doing the same thing this weekend. i would say lets make a party out of it, but i am a ways away. i have a couple of guys down here that are going to help me out, hopefully it won't be too much of a PITA.
I don't have a lot of experience with Suby, I just got mine not too long ago. Since i'm not too far off, if time permits, i'd help.
i have a ton goin on this weekend.... but i might be able to swing by for a little bit... sorry i dont have any knowledge or experience to bring to the table... please PM me your address
sorry guys something came up and I was not able to do it but I will have to do it soon, this weekend Im going out of the state but for the following weekend(sep 8th-10th) I will do it, so again any help or advice and anyone willing to come by thanks. and and by then Ill have a flywheel too.
Thats weird that you clutch is slipping in fifth, what about any other gears? I would expect it to happen in lower gears where the rotation of the flywheel is faster when you are about to engage.
actually, i'd expect it slip at higher gears... primarily because when u get on the gas, the flywheel wants to accelerate just as fast but at higher gears the clutch is fighting the flywheel with a much heavier load
^^ I can see that, I was thinking about it from the standpoint of when you are shifting from 4th to 5th its always a lot smoother than in the lower gears.
