a friend of mine has emmissions issues with his car... who would you guys recommend he go to see in ordere to diagnose/fix the problem... he needs to pass emmissions soon... its a 94 ford something please post here or PM me with suggestions... all help will be appreciated
they make that gas additive that's guaranteed to make you pass emissions...never did me wrong with my old 86 monte....and it had a custom dual exhaust....that I thought would never pass...
if all else fails I might have a way, but that's only last resort I can't call in the emissions favors all the time
Which gas or gasses did the Ford something fail? Older Fords like to fail NOx most often which is caused by clogged EGR passages most of the time. Need more details.
im not 100% sure... im gonna get a hold of him so i can find out... i remember him saying it was the gas that has a 150ppm limit
the emissions guy in canton that my family uses will pass you with straight pipes. he's told my dad's neighbor to run the gas down to about 1/4 tank and then add 3 bottles of alcohol. It burns so clean it looks fishy...lol
I failed for my crx, and I was about twice the limit. I put a new cat on it for $60, and I was then under 1/2 the limit. Failed both HC and CO. -- Brian
If you run it down to about 1 gallon left then put in 1 gallon of methanol it will pass, I promise. Matt Disclaimer not that have nor will I ever do anything to cheat at emissions. LOL AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA
They ran a sniffer test on my civic once up in maryland, and they had to run it 3 times to get it to register, as the machine was getting errors due to too low levels (ULEV). I have no clue why they don't use obd2 up there. -- Brian
The cat has possibly failed but you don't know for sure w/out the O2 readings which are not supplied on the emissions sheet. High HC (hydrocarbons which are measured in ppm, NOx is generally in the 750-1200ppm range) also indicates a rich condition may exist. Could be from a fuel saturated charcoal canister, fouled O2 sensor, out of cal. m.a.f., or as simple as a dirty air filter or clogged pcv valve. Misfires and burnt valves can also raise hc levels. The emissions pass stuff works sometimes but is not reliable. If there is anything else I can do to make this more complicated just let me know... I'll shut up now!
no need to... is there anyone u could suggest who would diagnose the problem without ripping my buddy off?
