I had Kuhmo 712's on my bugeye and was very happy with them(till I burned'm up with too aggressive of a alignment).. I think I paid $105 a piece, but that was 3 years ago. Don't know a lot about Cooper's.
I just got mine yokohamas from discount tires for 676 with all the trimmings of road side hazzard, etc. They ride pretty nice and is comparable to the Kumho, plus it has a 60k miles warrantee.
Yeah my Cooper Zeon 2XS were $130 a tire from Discount Tire...roughly 650 with install, mount, balance, road hazzard etc...I like them, They've lasted pretty long and still don't break loose yet under mild driving conditions, actually have yet to push them to a breaking point yet, but I have a stock suspension so, it has more body roll than anything else...I liked them better than my Toyo Proxy T1-S...but It does have the "v" shaped tread that if your not used can throw you off sometimes...probably not your solution for a track tire but I think it's a great street tire...
I've got coopers on my car. I didn't pick them, they came with it. Their cheap tires, but they seem to grip reasonably well for such a cheap tire.
Having owned a tire store for 15 years we sold a lot of tires. Those 2 brands seemed to have more problems than others.I would take the Kumho first. If possible I would go with Toyo or Falken. We had better luck with those. imo..
the fuzions have now have that same tread and selling the coopers around the same price the kumhos are about $150 cheaper than the coopers the guy was tellin me that the cooper was a better tire. still lookin but right now these are the best deals.
I work at american tire distributors i sell wheels and tires for a living. Go with the kumho asx!! super nice tire aggressive and nice ride 420AA nice tread rating as well.
falken fk451 is pretty cheap and grips nicely in ATL weather year around except when it snows. I paid around 600-650 for mounting/lifetime balance/road hazard at discount tire. I think fk452 came out this year which promised to outperform 451. so check those out as well.
I am really leaning towards the Coopers...They look really good and handle great on Scott's and Shane's rides...I was also considering the Falken and Kumho's....I won't be getting tires and wheels for a while though. Mark
