Hi there, I finally had the chance to go down to Macon to pick up a 2004 WRB STi. It took a while to get down there and back in one afternoon but it was well worth it. Now that I have the car, emssions is the next step for registration. My question is that how do I pass emssions with catless 3" TBE with AP? I don't see any cel so i assume i should pass emssions since the OBD-II reader shouldn't find anything suspecious? Any input on this is greatly appreciated, thank you.

if you have no CEL, then i believe you should have no problems with emmissions

If I remember correctly I think mckenzietj said that there could be issues with "readiness monitors" and that is possible that one might not pass an odbii emissions test with no check engine light illuminated due to the readiness monitors not being ready.

I don't have the links on hand but I think people were running into issues when they would reflash or reset their ecu right before a smog check, and they weren't giving their vehicles enough time for the ecu readiness monitors to initialize and set themselves before getting a smog test.

I don't think you shouldn't have any problems. I'm sure other guys on here will chime in on more aggressive mods / emissions. In my experience with my '03 WRX, I passed with Prodrive Stage III (catless uppipe, hiflow cat dp, midpipe cat delete, axle back exhaust and EcuTek).

that shouldnt be a problem if you don't reset your ECU for a while before u get the emmissions tested

anyone had any trouble with passing the "visual" part with a FMIC? (not that FMIC affect emissions, but it is quite obvious to see something is way beyond OEM with all the piping running through the bay). If the inspector looks under the car for a cat, it's all over.

Thank you all for helping, but anyone with more information or details, please feel free to share.

EDIT: so i should reset my ECU few hours before the test? Not exactly sure if the "readiness monitor" is operational.

With my bugeye I passed with one high flow cat and an Accessport. The guy didn't look for cats so you should be fine(unless the guys a dick...). Don't reset your ecu or reflash your AP...

do not reset your ECU... if u haven't resetted it for a while (> a week) and have been driving it around a good amount, the ECU should be ready

No, if you are going to reset your ECU, you want to do it a few days before the Emissions test, and drive around for, I think about 100 miles or more before getting it tested. If you have no CEL, I would not bother resetting the ECU.

^^ yup, drive 100 miles after you reset the ecu, before you go for emissions, and that should work for the readiness portion.

Now the front mount issue, hmmmm..... don't know on that one.

Everytime I've been with friends to get emissions (in Cobb county anyways), the inspector has ALWAYS done a visual check.

I went to an emissions testing center today and the tech said '04s are not required to be emission tested and he said he was quite sure...

As for the previous question, mods are fine no matter where you go as long as you are running within parameters. FMIC is not an issue. What could be an issue is running catless...there is a visual inspection and if there is no cat...ya can fail.
