DP installed, blinking cruise light?

So I finally got my DP and sways installed today (Thanks Mike). Rear sway went in with no problems but the front sway gave mike a little trouble but, a quick call to alex fixed that :p.

But anyways I didn't make this post to talk about the sways. Taking the DP out was easy but it was impossible to get the O2 Sensor out. After some PB Blaster, a shitload of leverage, and a semi-stripped nut, it loosened. After taking the O2 sensor out this is what we saw.

Now I think it's impossible for the threads to be stripped that bad just unscrewing the O2 sensor. So, right now I'm driving without an O2 sensor in my DP, i have a CEL and, my cruise light is blinking -_-.

hm, is ther a bolt or something blocking where the o2 sensor was?

Nope, it was just on really tight with the thread stripped.

I actually had a CEL just yesterday on my way home, and my cruise light was blinking the entire way to SoG. =/ I asked about it, and apparently this is normal. Whenever the CEL comes on, the cruise is disabled "just in case" until it's dealt with.

Now, to try and get Luna finished to where she won't throw CELs anymore..

We had the same thing happen when we installed the turboback on RamblinWRXs car, the 02 sensor was cross threaded from the factory.

Yep, mine blinks... Waiting for tuning...

it's disappointing the cross threading seems to be a common issue.

Did you use the O2 sensor socket? It helps to use that instead of an wrench.

  11. Yes we did use the O2 sensor socket.

Same thing happened with Mark's 06 wagon but it was as bad as jayj's.

It's a Subaru Signature Move to cross-thread stuff related to the exhaust at the factory. :)

So anyone know where i can get a cheap o2 sensor or an o2 sim? Dunno, just anything that will fix my CEL, cause i guess AP can't do it.

cel fixes for the DP are like $15 on ebay....let me know if you want a link, but if the 02 sensor is fried......might be SOL

So i do need the sensor to use the cel fix? or do i only need the fix?

if you can screw the CEL fix to the sensor, might just need the fix...but if the threads are all crazy...probably need both.....why won't AP fix this problem?

not sure, I reset the ECU but the CEL came back after like 20 miles.

well if your running a stage 2 map...I thought it renders the o2 sensor pretty much useless...so If you plug in your AP and read the CEL off the AP- What does it say?

o.k....almost everywhere that I've read says that stage 2 OTS map eliminates this CEL....but maybe not having a sensor at all is a different story....also found a couple of people that said the wires for the heater element are super fragile and sometimes if it's not held in properly by the plastic clip that the extra movement will cause the heater to cut out.....causing this CEL....

    hope this helps....

soo thats what that white plastic piece is:eek:

  25. I think the reason the AP is not eliminating this code is because there's nothing pluged in for the O2 sensor harness...

i still have that hole in my dp where the O2 sensor is supposd to go so i was just wondering, is this what i need? http://gruppe-s.com/Subaru/subex.htm very last item on the page.

does the 02 sensor not fit in there at all? because what you showed is just a cell fix that can be had for cheaper through ebay or diy check the cel fix 4 tbe in the diy section. (sorry dont know how to put it here so you can go stright to it.)

    yea, threads are completely gone.

hmm because on the cel fix you have to screw the 02 sensor into it then put it into the hole on the dp. you may need a new 02 sensor but I could be wrong hopefully someone else will chime in to correct me.

ohhhh, i see. hmm, maybe ill just plug in the O2 sensor and then just ziptie it up somewhere to fix the CEL. Cause AP SHOULD fix it right?
