Announcement: Scott Siegel and Matthew Ball To do ONE LAP OF AMERICA

That's right Scott Siegel and myself will be taking my 06 STI to ONE LAP OF AMERICA next year. I'm sure that most of you know what one lap is but for those that don't here is a link http://www.onelapofamerica.com/.

We are planning on running a pretty basic setup, the goal is just to finish top 5 in our class. Next year we will really bring something competitive.

If anyone has any ideas for sponsors etc... please feel free to PM Scott or myself, anything that would offset the cost some would be greatly appreciated.

I'm very excited about it, I think it will be a lot of fun.

lol i meant to post that in the driver call out thread. not here. but anyways thats why i shouldnt be posting when i first wake up. lol and right when i go to move the pposts you wanna chime in matt. i cant win for losing.

 

Ill be trying to hit up every track on the list when they actually put the list up on the site. So get ready for a lot of track reviews. I'm sure there will be alot of SSPPs at other tracks.

If you do put a sponsor banner on, maybe you could charge like $10 to sign it. That way, everyone who signed it could say they sponsored a car in the one lap. It wouldn't be much, but as you said, every little bit helps...

I'm soooo jealous. I want to 1LoA so bad. I'm sure it'll be a blast. MAKE SURE you get an onboard camera rig dialed in before!!! That way we can all watch it @ the next NOPI.

 

Great news! That'll be nice having some locals out there competing.

 

I've been thinking about setting up the camera and computer so that we can document the whole trip.

The signing thing is an AWESOME idea. I also thank you all for the support. It's amazing to already have this many responses. I'm hoping to roll out all my old racing sponsors

Actually we found out that we both like Subway. Subway was one of my first sponsors for the Spec Miata....

Matt's car is already white, a little green and yellow....

Another potential idea. After all the sponsors are onboard, and the signing thing is done, take the car over to SOG, have all the people who signed the banner thing over and get Nememsis to take some nice pics with the sponsors, the driver, and the car. Then, have 1ll make posters of the pics which you can also sell to the sponsors/anyone else...you might also want to see if WRXfan420 might be able to hook you up with a wifi card form cingular to post updates from the road with. Maybe even get cingular to offer a small sponsorship...

 

Sounds like a plan, keep the ideas coming,

Maybe a roadtrip pre-1LOA to get a run or two in on these tracks, so you've got some feel for them?? That would be fun in itself.

Sounds like its going to be a fun year for onelap. The new tracks, along with some old ones should prove to be really fun. But I will not be looking forward to the long drive from MAM to Miller which is just under a 1000miles. You guys should do really well, and I would imagine as long as nothing breaks you should place atleast top 15 overall. Onelap isn't about overall power but reliability, most of the big hp cars don't make it to the end, and the ones that do usually aren't runing 100%.

Yes me and LUKE are running again. However we will be running a different class, as the RS isn't a 4door. Instead of mid-priced sedan we will be runing Economy.. LOL. Figured OLA has never had an economy car win before and last year we won the mid-priced class, and still even after missing a whole days competion due to a leak in an intecooler pipe we still finished 5th overall.

 

Matt and Scott should be an easy second for mid priced sedan... first in MPS is going to be hard since AMS is running their evo again, unless their car has issues.

 

I'm just looking to have fun this year, next year Ill put together a car just for one lap.

I'm looking at a 4 channel in car video setup so I can get lots of angles etc... We will also be running track vision so the video will have on screen telemetry
