Really? Thats a rather large oversight on Subarus part, I thought everything was red in the STIs and green in the WRXs.

I think someone on here posted a picture of it done not to long ago. In fact I even think they said they had lots of left over bulb condoms.

hey! how did my pictures get here:p ! I have the key ring, the ic and light leveler and the door buttons all red too. It took a little while, damn soldering in new LEDs. So for everyones info, the radio and the key ring are all bulbs (so condoms will do), the HVAC and door buttons are LEDs so you can't just use a condom or a red sharpie, it won't be bright enough. So soldering of new red LEDs are required. The IC uses a bulb so you can just use a condom but make sure to scrape off the green film behind the letters. The light leveler doesn't have any lights, so you can just add in a LED and it'll work.

Where do you get the parts needed? If we can get a count of interested parties, could 1 person group buy all the parts?

the red condoms/bulb covers can be found at partexpress.com, you'll need the 0.12" and 0.2", 10 of each will be more than enough. The red LEDs can be bought pretty much anywhere but since the car only has a 12v supply, you'll either need to get some resistors or buy the LEDs with the series resistor already built in. The resistance of the required resistor will ofcourse depend on the specs of the LED. now, if say someone has a key to the ECE labs at tech where there's a gazzilion resistors, then we can all skip that...anyone?

Is it possible to change the color of the gauges (the green ones on a wrx)? I've always thought a nice blue would look good for the dash.

I'd go with red myself, but I would like to see what other colors would look like!

hmm, yeah, probably not worth it. I've just always loved the blue and red Jetta dash lighting.

I actually think this was the first "mod" (if you can call it that),
that I did for my car.

I'd certainly help out if there's an install day for this.

Hmm. Cool stuff. He kept talking about how the green film on the gauges make red kind of sucky. In the other intructions, is that what the sand paper was for, to get rid of the film? I like the setup a lot, the only thing I don't like is the yellow gauge needles. Anyone know if it's possible to switch those out? Red would look great with a blue gauge. Dammit, now I'm actually considering this. Thanks crash...

    ;)

I don't think you can change out the needles, and you can't even paint over them from some of the other post I've read. The paint would make the needle too heavy and it won't sweep fast enough.

Yeah, only bad part about this...I am sure there is a way to do it somehow, but would proly take changing out the needles and having the gauge recalibrated. For $30 in led's it sounds pretty cheap and easy.
