If the 2008 Impreza is gonna be hatchback only, I'm really really glad I got a 2006. To me the STI is not a hothatch.

The 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO X looks like a large mouth bass.

The Evo keeps growing on me the more I see it. Maybe it's the huge grille opening reminiscent of a Cobra.

Is it just too hard to ask subaru to make a widebody hatch with 300 whp and direct injection with DCCD transmission for only $25k? Jeez you would think they'd have figured it out by now =P

From what I heard it is only the 08 STI that is going to be hatch only. I believe the WRX will still be offered in Sedan and Wagon forms.

From what I read Mitsubishi is going to re-engineer the suspension so that it will even out perform the EvoIX. Photos have shown that it's got a longer wheels base and wider footprint. Hopefully Mitsubishi doesn't do what Subaru did when they went from the GC -> GD platform and add like 300lbs for safety reasons. I think you're trying to stretch too far if you're going for the safest car on the road and the fastest on the same model. You'll sacrifice too much for comfort and crash tests to perform the same way the previous models did. Now if they can make the new platform more structurally rigid and balanced without adding too much weight then it will be an awesome car. I love the way the Evo X looks from the side but I'm not a fan of the largemouth bass bumper. I'm sure it'll fit one hell of a FMIC tho hehe

The new Evo's AWD is supposed to rival even the SH-AWD from Honda, which of course is probably BS IMO because that system is perfect except that it's really heavy.

And as for the STi being a hatch. Look at who has been winning all the WRC championships lately and what kind of car they're doing it in. Maybe Subaru is trying to borrow a thing or two from them. ;)
