I just got a 2002 wrx, the previous owner had installed an HKS cat back exhaust that sounds good and I just installed a SPT (Subaru Performance Tuning) intake from the dealship at Gwinnett. What else would be something that would be around the price range of a couple hundred dollars that will improve the performace, especially low end torque more?
Not much you can do that is cheap to increase low end torque. Congrats on the new wrx and welcome to the community
uppipe... sakari motorsports has a good selection... i would recommend one with a flex section... like this one right here: http://www.sakarimotorsports.com/sakari/product_info.php?cPath=23_35_114_421&products_id=232 install is a pain but it should give a noticable improvement in spool
not so sure about headers... but uppipe will give a noticable improvement... plus, if u go with equal length headers, u will lose the nice boxer rumble
i wouldnt touch the header as you normally lose the boxer sound and gain nothing. uppipe would be a better way to go.
one of the best things you can do is get the car tuned...that's about $150 give or take depending on where you go
Do you have an up-pipe? If not i'd recommend a gutted up-pipe (Ill hook you up with one). You should be good performance, and should consider investing in some sways bars. Also consider upgrading your tires to something a bit more performance oriented (you'll be impressed with the results). And for (cheap) aesthetics clear your headlights (http://www.wrxatlanta.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10006)
man, you are pushin this hardcore....:keke: definitely think it's a great idea though +1 for gutted/aftermarket upipe
uppipes are a good choice. Flex and gutted are easier to install but you'll get smoother airflow with a solid pipe. In the end, it's mostly personal preference unless you're really pushing a lot of exhaust through the pipe. but I would recommend thermal wrap or buying a thermally coated pipe because after market won't have the shielding of the stock pipe, so this will help keep the stray heat away from wires and other temperature sensitive parts. Welcome to the boards! hope to see you at some meets!
Congrats! you'll love the extra oomph you feel and sound with the up (stock gutted from Alex) and the down pipe and HKS hi power (from Sakari) makes you drive like:ddirty:and feel like:wiggle: I love my suby.
I got the subaru from a friend who got it when he turned 17, he drove it a year and then sold it to me. I am a bit older than him so he gave me a good deal on a good solid car.
Yeah, not going to get a pro tune for that kind of coin... however you can get a tactrix cable for $90 and load stage 1 osecuroms map. :naughty:
