Gotta love opensource. Maybe a use for cubby hole. http://www.autoblog.com/2006/11/06/dashdaq-throws-open-source-in-face-of-high-end-sat-navs/ http://www.drewtech.com/products/dashdaq.html
hmm, i don't see subaru listed here: http://www.drewtech.com/support/oem_applications.html n/m i see subaru on the printed materials. This looks REALLY exciting. what i'd really like to see is someone replace their stock dash with this.
It's a neat idea, but... 4" screen. You could probably roll your own without entirely too much effort. Imagine a decent size (10" widescreen maybe?) LCD, touch panel. Drag/drop and resize gauges with your fingertip. You just need a Linux box or something to drive it...
actually now that you mention it, flash can turn data into graphic representation quite handily. it would just be a matter of finding the output source for the ECU data to flash.
I like the universal hud stuff pioneer had something like this with the double din navy units I think very expensive to add it though
Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price is expected to be set at $595 for the Drew Technologies retail version.
Just stuff a tablet into your dash. Touch screen LCDs are expensive! Be just as much or less to get a tablet and get it in there somehow. The gauges really aren't all that new honestly. You can buy them for trucks with chips. Course it's a bit different but it's pretty similar.
I haven't checked current pricing, but AllAmerican had some very nice prices on LCDs, both touch and non-touch last I checked...
