I got up at 8:30 this morning, and by 2:00 pm I had finished installing my Helix Up Pipe!

Wow, what a difference, and the install could not have gone any smoother! My only issue is that my car is LOUD AS HELL now, I was told that it would get a bit louder, but I wasn't expecting this...don't get me wrong...it sounds awesome, but it is going to get old real quick. I have a feeling that the volume has a lot to do with the TBE set up that I have on the car. I am currently running a catless 3" TBE which is a combination of an ANSA Catback that opens up to a 4" tip, and an aftermarket DP(?brand?). The exhaust was on the car when I bought it, and the ANSA came with a silencer that helped a little...unfortunately, I had been taking the silencer in and out, and I didn't bolt it in tight enough and it fell out a couple of weeks ago. I called ANSA today to see if I could get a replacement. Hopefully they will sell me the silencer seperately from the exhaust. Long term, I would like to swap out the entire TBE with a single system, but I can't afford to do that right now, so I am exploring my options.

My goal is to quiet down the exhaust, any ideas? Maybe I could find a decent Axle back.

i have the same setup, and i've been holding off on putting in my helix uppipe for that very reason until i get money for sound deadening over christmas.

oh btw, unfortunately the ANSA midpipe is 3.5" at the tip which wouldn't fit any axle back i know of, gotta get a full catback and that'd quiet it down alot.

Awesome man, I just finished my up-pipe yesterday took me from 12am to 10pm. Despite my lack of tools, I had a 2 mile Razor scooter ride and I had to wait for a car to get a 14mm Hex socket. I was pretty impressed with the less lag and mine was just a bit louder because I have 3 in dp to stock cat back. I also have a slight burning smell coming from the engine not the cat back and I can’t figure it out.

Yeah, but that will just quiet down the interior noises...I am worried about getting pulled over, and I don't like the idea of my car being obnoxious to other drivers.

I should have measured the DP when I had it off of the car during the install, I wonder if it is 3 or 3.5 inch? I guess I could just get a cat back system. and wait on a DP.

    Thanks for the input!

You could always go back to your wrx midpipe and buy my EVO2 axleback. You won't lose much performance as you're reflashed to stage 2

Right after the install I had a bunch of smoke coming off of the turbo, I figured that it was the PB Blaster burning off, it is gone now.

I would consider going back to the stock mid pipe, if I had it. ANSA is sending me a replacement silencer for 15 bucks, that should hold me over until I decide on what I am going to do.
