Anyone knowledgeable in mobile electronics want to help me intall a subwoofer? I'm a noob when it comes to this stuff. I just need to mate one sub to my stock headunit and 4 channel amp. I'm currenly running 4 door speakers but will be switching to the fronts only (one of the rears has blown). Thanks. -Eric
I'm not sure, though there is an option for a factory sub, which I had at one point. I had the amp and my door speakers professionally installed. I may end up just calling a friend and trying it myself. I don't think it will be complicated.
I can help install an amp, though if you are running the Stock Head Unit, you need to either have a Stand Alone LOC (Line Output Converter) or have an Amp that has Line Level inputs. What amp do you have? The Stock Headunit does not have RCA preouts.
Where is the Amp Mounted? If the amp is already installed, all you have to do is run 2 to 4 wires from it to the speaker. You shouldn't really need any help with that, its pretty simple.

After taking another look at the amp it looks pretty simple. I'll give it a shot tomorrow. I've had a balance problem since the amp install (0 was nowhere close to even L/R), which caused a rear speaker to blow out. I was told the installers did everything correctly and the problem was the headunit. I'm hoping that disconnecting the rears and bridging the sub will fix it. I'd rather not upgrade the headunit. If anyone is considering a JL Audio stealthbox, your more than welcome to come and take a look/listen.
Its done. It was pretty easy, the stereo sounds great. Only problem is there were a few occasions where the volume would fluctuate every 3 seconds or so. I have never noticed that before.
maybe they wired it with pretty small power wire so it could be drawing a bit more on the wire than it wants to, causing that volume fluctuation? just an idea, probably wrong
