If anyone is interesting in racing 1/28th scale here is your chance. Hobby Mart in Roswell has a RCP track inside to race on. We had our first race of the winter season last Saturday. About 10 cars showed up. It's a lot of fun and can be done for cheap. Radio Shack carries the XMOD (gen 2 evo chassis) for around $40. I was the only one there running the newer MA-010 AWD chassis (with STI body or course :D), everyone else was RWD.

It's only 5 bucks to race and they got lap counting software running that keeps track of everything. They are going to race every other Saturday and off weekends are free for practice. Post up if anyone is interested or post in the mini-zracer forums.

More info can be found here.

I'm running a Mini-Z. They cost a bit more since it's hobby grade kit.

The closest thing in the XMOD is an Evo VIII. Comes standard RWD but can be upgraded to AWD.

Hmm...interesting. I may have to look into it.

I wish the track could support 1/18th scale stuff. Would make it really fun.

I think they do like ~12 mph out of the box. I've seen a video of one doing 33 mph. Way too fast on the Hobby Mart track.

I agree about the XMOD, but the 2nd gen chassis made a huge improvment.

The F1 is sweet but not many have it, I saw one on Saturday but he never put it on the track. They are little bit heavier and probably prone to more breakage.

$150 is cheap. Go look at 1/1oth scale cars. ;) I have several of the 1/10th scale. They are fast and fun. Expensive...very expensive. I don't even get them out anymore. Too expensive to repair them when they break. :p Also all of the tracks have closed for 1/10th scale anything.

They only break if you hit stuff. ;)

I used to race 1/10th electric and gas touring and I quit due to expense. Tires cost too much to keep up with the fast people. I had a TC3 and MTX-2.

It would do 50+ mph once it hit 2nd gear.

Great thing about RCP, it's really hard to break anything.

I have one of these...and it's great fun, but it gets a tad boring running it up and down my street (plus I keep hitting mailboxes and snapping the suspension ;) ). Need to find somewhere decent to run it.

Thank you Mark and Matt for coming out and checking out the racing. Hopefully you guys will pick up a car and join in. We are going to be starting a points race with prizes at end sometime soon.

Ditched the 90mm STi and now running a 98mm Murcielago with a new rear end, SORRY! :)

Ignore the front wheels they are the wrong offset.

Kev, I had a wonderful time and I may invest in a car very soon. It was really cool seeing all of the different types of cars. Nice Murcielago man!!!.

Points series in full swing now. Track has been expanded. Points race tomorrow at Hobby Mart. Feel free to stop by and watch (we usually have a spare to let someone mess around with) but be warned you'll probably get hooked and buy one of these. :D
