Just curious what size tires everyone is running on the STI's on there 17x8in rims? Also any suspension work you have done would be good. see what flks were running around here. Considering some 245/45/17s or 245/40/17s. Just wanted to see what everyone was running
for a 17x8, the "correct" size is a 235. Its cheaper than the 245 if that matters much of anything. Are the 05 stock tires 235/45/17, or are they 225 like the 04's. Also, what are your intentions with the tire? Budget, Weekend Racer, etc. Regardless, I'd say shoot for a 235. Ive got 17x8 right now running 235s and its lovely.
I vote for what i just got BF Goodrich KDW2's 255/40/17's all the way around :-D traction is freaking SICK!!!
I have a wagon but I curntly run a 17x8 wheel with 235/35/17 tire, next race season I want a 245 tire (largest tire you can run in STX) but is hard to find one with a 35 or 40 side wall only performance tire I found was a Hankook but coud not find any one to buy it from. But I do have JIC-FLT A2 coilovers. Good luck with the hunt many SCCA compation Sti's run anywere from 255 to 300+. Let us know what you go with and if any of the SCCA guys or road racing guys could chime in and help out they would have some good info.
Make sure if you change the overall diameter of your car that you have your speedo fixed also. The speeds won't matter much at low speed, but when you get to interstate speed the couple % difference in overall diameter will alter your speed by ~5mph. Remember if you are going to run lots of negative camber up front you need to consider a tire that is going to have a tougher inside tread to prevent over wear during daily driving.
I know i know.. Well my camber is at -1.5 at all 4 corners. Just been reading. Not sure if the 245/45's would look "strange" or if they would rub drop is like 1.2 in front and 1.0 in back..
For daily driving: 235/45-17" Fuzions. They're not the best, but they were free. For auto-x, etc.: 235/40(45?)-17" Toyo Proxes RA-1s Suspension mods are only Whiteline Front Sway Bar 27-29mm. A-Stock.
