i personaly dont think they are worth it, you just gotta know how much you can speed witout having an issue with our fine guys in blue. Slow down before large hills and long bends in the highway if you are that worried abut it, thats where the tend to sit.

Yo Rexrocker, that Valentine1 sounds pretty good, how many times has it saved you? I am considering one as well and didn't know if I should go to a local store or ask people. I'm sure everyone has their own opinion and the cobra owners will say their's work just as well.

    Thanks, Russa

I got the red one. WELL worth the $$$!!!!!!!!!!!
Set the mode to Highway, turn X and POP off, and use "expert meter."

Also, I took the plug apart and used some phone wire to hard wire it into the car. I drilled holes into one of those plates I wasn't using beside the fog and cruise buttons and mounted the mute button and lights there. Looks great! The detector is above my rear view.

V1 saved me numerous times during my trips to MD and FL. With LONG range and direction arrow, extra $100 bucks will be worth it. or perhaps...

Yeah it is, but I'm not really sure it's 200-300 dollars better than a Cobra.

a friend of mine had one and he got a ticket and his license taken away...not sure if i would trust them...isn't it true that if the cop waits until you are in sight and then presses the trigger on his radar gun then you're screwed anyway? it's not that important to me to get someplace that 2-3 minutes sooner. if i want to drive fast i know some places were it's safe to...

True to a point... but if your in any kind of a pack and they hit someone in front of you, you'll get a warning and have time to slow down... If that saves you 1 time, you paid for your detector. As far as those saying just not to speed.. c'mon.. I've never seen a subie, let alone a wrx going 55mph on 400. Especially with construction zones, go 55 when everyone else is going 80 and get run over... I keep it at around 70, and thats still 15 over!!! Tell me you never go 52,53 in a 45mph zone, lets not get silly here.

I always leave it on HWY. I want it to be as sensitive as possible. With the X off it's not bad at all.

Going faster than the flow of traffic isn't a good idea, but due to my yellow paint I seem to be the one that gets picked on anyway. LASER is going to get ya no matter what you have. Instant on Ka is going to get you too, but I still wouldn't sell my Escort X50 for anyhting less than full retial plus what it costs me in gas to drive and get another one!

Unless they are running lidar (laser) in which case even when in a pack you will not go off till you bought yourself a ticket. Best bet is to keep it under 10 over and unless they pace you or it is GSP they can't stop you.....unless your speedo is not right which happens.

Who needs a radar dector when you can just out run the cops!! :p

    jk jk! keep it legal.

I had Rockey Mountain Radar for a short time and it helped a little. But I eventually got hit with some sort of radar/laser and it didn't go off and I got a 200 dollar ticket (28 over in a 45 D:). Since it was my parent's they took it away after that. Since then only one ticket.

I have the escort x50. I liked it for about the first 6 months. Now when its cold and you lift or accelerate and your rpm's change rapidly, I keep getting laser warning. Its kind of annoying, because it goes off every couple of minutes while highway driving even if I feather the throttle or have cruise control on. It works great in the summer, but I gave it to my wife. She has a longer commute.

Anybody know if I can hardwire the X50 into my homelink mirror?? If so, do I have to buy an extra piece? Debating on the X50 vs V1....
