Please help me diagnose the problem. I was planning on changing my oil this weekend, as it was coming close to 3500 miles. Anyhow, I was busy and didn't get a chance to. Anyhow, I start the car to go to work this morning, when the "Check Engine" light comes on. Furthermore, the "Cruise" light was blinking. Anyone seen this before? I wanted to check if anyone know what this is before I bring it to Scott. Thanks,
On the drive-by-wire cars, the cruise light comes on any time the check engine light is on. From what you said, it sounds unrelated to the late oil change unless the oil level is low, which is entirely possible after 3500 miles. My suggestion would be to take the car to autozone and they can run the code for free, and get the oil changed for sure!
Jonny, Thanks for the diagnose. That was my thought at first, immediately after I saw the light, I check the oil level. I have about a 1/4 from the bottom hole to the top hole, I would think that is fine. I will take the car to autozone and have them run the code. Thanks!
There is also a recall on the cruise control clip on late model impreza's. I hope its nothing serious.
oh well I dunno then...I thought it might be the cold snap we just got and you might have overboosted a little, throwing the cel
any new installs?....exhaust wise possibly?....it's possible that your ecu is just finding something that you have installed recently....definitely post the code when you find out what it is....
I thought it was a misfire? Or so I rememberd reading somewhere. But im now curious. Im would say your EGT malfunction mine use to do it all the time but that would make cruise blink. Cold weather dose weird things sometimes.
Just got back from Autozone during lunchbreak. They pull the code P1097. They try to look it up in their database and was not listed. I am searching the web for some answers. The even more odd behavior is when I start the car to come back to work, the engine light was gone. I also just spoke to SS about the code, he mentioned the error code was a malfunction in the Terminal Value Control. However he said not to worry about it unless the light comes back. Thanks everyone for your help!
How would we check for recalls and if it is certain..do we just take it to SoG? Oh yeah..my check engine light is on..and the cruise light keeps blinking..but this didn't start till I installed my CAI (fujita)..I believe it is the diameter not matching up..i tried resetting the ECU but it eventually comes back on..i'm planning on getting Ecutek and having that tuned..that should solve the problem eh?
Its the TGV's, they have a tendency to break if you even think about looking at them. Have you done anywork in that area of the bay? It could also be a short, iirc, the "7" designates LHS.
Alex, thanks for the info. Since the light went out, SS says not to worry about it unless it comes back on. However, could you send me the link of the info you listed above? Looks like pretty cool info to have for future reference.
I had the CEL pop on on the way home from work today and the cruise light is blinking, my car is running fine, but this has me worried, I have a catback installed and snorkus delete, but nothing else. I did run over something on Saturday I hope it didn't break something. Where can I find this TGV "tumble generator valve" so I can make sure the harness isn't broken?
With Drive By Wire DBW cars, the cruise will *ALWAYS*!*!*! blink with a CEL. Any CEL will have a blinking cruise. Any, Fuel cap, too lean, too rich, dead sensor, open sunroof, it doesn't matter what CEL, it will have a blinking cruise  SS
I went to NAPA and Pep Boys but they don't pull them at NAPA and Pep Boys wanted twenty dollars just to pull the code, so I am going to wait and go to Autozone where they do it for free, I think. One other thing I forgot to mention I just crossed 60k miles, could that have something to do with it?
Ok, Autozone pulled it for me, P0457 which their computer said was a small EVAP leak detected, Possible causes, 1.loose or defective fuel cap 2. EVAP canister broken, hose cracked, or not connected 3. Purge or vent solenoid defective 4. Vacuum leak at engine. I checked the fuel cap, maybe its defective, or maybe my catback I installed is loose? Any ideas of where to start, or should I disconnect the battery and see if it resets it self, I did fuel up yesterday before it came on. Thanks
