Anyone have any of the smaller, cheaper, portable type air compressors that they would recommend or say to stay away from? I am thinking about purchasing one and really don't want to spend a thousand on an air compressor.
not sure what size you are looking for but i think we have a 2.5 gallon tank/compressor combo for under $100 at harbor freight,
What are you wanting to use the compressor for? I think you need to decide that before you start looking. B/c certain tools require certain SCFM to run. Also I think sears is having some sales right now to.
Something that runs off of 110/120 so that I don't have to put a new outlet in my garage, under $400, and something that will run basic air tools like die grinder, cutting wheels, etc. I was really just curious if anyone had any of the products and could recommend them. I mean I would love one of the heavy duty $1600 ones, but gotta be realistic right now, lol.
I have the one below... It takes care of my needs. http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/prod...ir+Compressors+&+Inflators&BV_UseBVCookie=Yes
^^ +1 on this one. Same thing I've got and it's more than capable (unless you're going to run a grinder for a long time)
I was actually looking at that one. What are the advantages of the oil-free vs the ones that require oil?
if I remember correctly it comes down to maintenance and noise concerns, though the one I have (linked above) is pretty damn noisy.
I'm sure it will, but for how long is another subject. If you're looking for a fairly cheap, weekend user-type, you can't go wrong with this one. I would search around at Harbor Freight and Northern as well though. My wife surprised me with this one and there was NO way I was taking it back...:coolugh:
This is the one I have http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDU...archResults.jsp&N=2984&keyword=air+compressor Its decent but for the price and the fact it comes with tools its hard to beat.
doh. Apprently the site won't let you link directly to it. It's the $299 Husky 26 gallon one that comes with 6 tools.
Wow that does seem to be a deal for all those tools and the compressor. Might have to go look at it and see what it looks like!
Sears has a 33 gallon with free 10pc tool kit included for 299. I was looking at one of their 3 gal ones. Their on sale for 100 bucks. think its worth it? I don't need to power any tools, just use it to fill up my tires, etc. I tried to find one for $60 at HD today, but they don't have any that are separate from the tool kits.
