Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8D ED AF Zoom

    Anyone use this. Thinking about renting it for the races on dec 30th

    Not sure what the "races" are but 200mm is pretty short for most sports related stuff unless you can get up close.

    200mm isnt that bad. I havent been with many photographers that have used anything over that for the most part. Ive been to events such as Formula D, SCCA, and a few private track days.

    Only time I could see a use for something over 200mm is a very large circuit such as Road Atlanta.

    yeah, I have the 70-200 for my Cannon and it will get you closer shots than the lens that came with but is no super zoom by any means.

    A bunch of people are renting the drag strip on the coast this coming up weekend and I really wanted to make sure I got some nice good clean shots. and wasn't sure about the lens needed.

    Right now I got Nikkor 28-80mm F/3.3-5.6, Nikkor 70-300mm f4-5.6 G,
    Nikkor 50 mm f/1.8D AF Lens

    Will my 70-300 do just as good? Its going to be mostly day time running and alittle during the night but the lights are nice and bright and I got all access to the track.
