went to chipotle with scott and will yesterday and finally decided on what to do with the tranny situation. it looks like we are going to be putting the 07 legacy 6 speed into my porr little 03 bugeye. everything has been ordered and should all be here by the end of the week and as soon as will can get to it he said he could probably do the whole swap in about a day. i'm hopeful and very eager to get my car back. wish me luck that everything goes well. phil
the ratios are different according to will but with my car and the legacy he said they are the same do we would keep the same diff. not very good with all the lingo but overall that's what i think he was saying also i don't have to mess with the DCCD. scott wasn't sure it would all work perfectly so we just decided to go with the legacy. essentially ahs the same durability as the sti tranny.
missing it in the worst way but i know it is in good hands so i'm not worried but very very happy to know that something is being done now and i'll be getting it back soon
with the ppg's i'll most likely be selling them. will said with all of the damage done inside my tranny it would cost about as much to get all of the parts i would need. also my goals for the car are going to be more for track driving instead of dragging it and we decided longer gear ratios would be more ideal
Ah gotcha. Didn't realize more than the gears themselves were damaged. Please keep us posted on the LGT swap. I thought the final drive in them were different.
will do if anybody wants/needs/or knows anyone who does. if SoG won't take my gears back then they will be up for sale. they are 1-4th straight cut. and the drive shaft. this is just the beginning to a feeler so no price yet i just want to see if there is any interest in them
it is a non DCCD tranny. that was one of the reasons we went with that option. basically the only thing that is different is the ratios (not sure which ones i think the diff ratios) and the fact that it doesn't have DCCD. it would have been too much to do the DCCD b/c my car isn't designed to have that feature. it could be made to work but there is no guarantee that it would work perfectly
Sweet. Now you mind telling how much that tranny runs? Also I wonder what the power limit is to them. They have 2.5L on them now but I dunno how many LGT's out there have 450+ hp.
well the tranny itself was just under 4500 and for me to get everything done for a 6 speed swap it will be about 8200 including labor provided nothing unforseen comes up *crossing my fingers* my car is running 368 to the wheels last time i had it dynoed. from what i've heard the tranny is essentially the same as the sti minus the DCCD and a little bit longer gears. so given that i haven't heard of any tranny breaking. but i would say it could hold up to about 500 hp. i am certainly notan authority on this though maybe someone else knows more...there is always some one who knows more
Cool. The 6 speed Legacy...that the Spec B isn't it. Too bad you won't find too many wrecked ones out there.
