I check my coolant yesterday and saw that it was slightly below the low mark on the resevoir and I'm certain that it was at the full mark when I got the car, which is about 8 month (4000miles) ago. Is this normal, how long does your coolant last?

I may be totally off base here, but I think that with our cars having water cooled turbos, that can use some minor amount of coolant too.

8 months ago means that your car was driven through the summer. Summer always evap.s the coolant regardless of turbo or not. Just top it off now and check it again before summer comes. That should be a better indicator or evap.

    depends engine hot or cold
cold at low line hot at high line
the coolant tank is not sealed so evaporation do happen

look at the black line from radiator to the coolant tank - its white isnt it ? = evaporation

yup, it's definitely white and I know it happens, it's just the rate of the evaporation kind of caught me off guard.

BTW be careful in the city limits of Duluth...I know of a particular dirty police Sgt over there that loves to look for imports!
