If you could summarize your opinions, experiences, thoughts, feelings, etc towards the SubieSport Magazine in a few sentences, what would they be? Also, do you see room for improvement? What would you like to see changed? More Of? Less Of?

In addition, when you read a car magazine, which do you prefer to read? Which represent quality to you, which represent crap? Which do you go for for quality writing, etc?

    Many thanks,

less ricer "import tuner" stories more GRM type stories... It seems alot of their stories seem to focus on people who have spent thousands of dollars on body kits and bling. Not everyone can afford to drop thousands of dollars into body kits and other "bling" accessories. More DIY type stories especially ones that are on a budget and don't involve BOVs. More motorsports coverage, personally I'm not that big into rally and subaru is involved in more forms of motorsports then just rally (Didn't a STi T2 win SCCA runoffs this year? There is also One Lap and SOLO II). Occasionally there is an interesting article or two and so I keep my subscription current.

Alex, if you are planning on creating a 10th street jdm magazine, your copious amounts of business initiative may cause me to boycott the site (or be jealous if you're successful).

Haha, so why do you ask? ;)

Haha, its not going to be 10th St JDM magazine...but it could be something fun. There's nothing to worry about, just your standard market research survey ;) It would be wonderful to have an expansive section on where the cars are actually being used (and yes, not just rally). It would be wonderful to have legitamite DIYs that feature actual people doing budget related mods. However, its always fun to follow up on these all black stis that are putting huge turbos and heavy frontmounts in :p

Ad free or at least have enough meat to the magazine for reading. Subiesports always seem really small.

I agree that you should focus on more regional events and motorsports. Show how subarus are running on road courses, autox, drag.

SCC used to be my favorite, but it went downhill awhile ago. Since then Evo, GRM and AutoWeek are my favorites. I agree with the SubieSport comments above, more show scene type coverage than motorsports. BTW, I still have 3 copies of Brian and Meredith's SubieSport issue...

Subiesport is a great magazine. They are pretty heavy on the ads, but its expected with a new magazine company. The technical sections are decent, and are not overbearing that a noob couldn't understand whats going on. I wish there was more of a tour with the shows they have going on. It seems like most of the big get togethers they have are in the north west.

Not really a big fan of Subiesport. I don't think it is actually worth a subscription. 6 issues a year is one of the limiting factors. Like Mere said, more Grassroots type racing articles would be good. Don't get me wrong, I am a huge rally fan, but there are so many other forms of racing that Subarus take part in.

The articles are, on average, very bland and not all that interesting to read. I like a couple of the articles writen by Gotsol, but then again, they mainly encompassed either, the article about Us, Danny Loman's car, or other cars and articles that are specific to our area, involving people I personally know or cars I have personally seen.

Make the Issues thicker, more content, and maybe add a little non-subaru content. To have an magazine dedicated strictly to Subaru is a little overkill. Add in some other Non-Subaru cars for filler material, but leave the primary focus on Subarus still.

How would you go about discerning what non-Subaru content is worth a Subaru reader's time then ?

You can't. Honestly, what I would like to see is a normal car magazine that is centered around Subaru. It can be just like all the other tuner mags, just with more content per issue focused on Subaru related products and vehicles, but still include other cars.

What cars are normally considered competition for us? Evos, 350z, Audi S4, etc... throw some of those into the mag just to add filler. I would feel better about x cost per mag with more pages to read thru.

Well Subiesport has often held comparisons as their featured articles. When the lgt wagon was out they paired it up against the new a4 wagon (iirc). They just released another comparison this month...

Jason's got it right. Competition to the WRX and STI would be great stuff. Imports, domestics, whatever. as long as its all in the same price range, its good!

Also, some more experimentation with a plain jane wrx would be excellent. different intercoolers, turbos, injectors, tuning options, etc... I know all of this is on the internet with searching, but to have it in a mag that you can sit down on the throne and read would be great.
