Few months ago I had my car broken into, but they were nice enough to unplug the harnesses. In place I put my stock headunit back. So now I have a new cd player. What do I need to install? Just need the correct wiring harness and it's plug and play?

The MODS can move it, dunno about these fairies though ;)

And yes, you'll need a wiring harness adapter deal.

But with the wiring harness adapter it's just plug and play? Find the subaru harness plug it in then plug in headunit?

You will have to splice the adapter harness to the harness with the radio. Just match the colors and you should be good.

yea you can either solder the wires together, use those little tie cap things, or buy those universal adapters, but its like 30 bucks for each side(you need 2 sides). I was too lazy to solder mine so i just took it to a car audio place and i just paid them 5 bucks cash lol.

yea, most car audio places will crimp your harness for cheap. You can go to an ace hardware and get a wire stripper(or knife) and crimper and some end caps and do it yourself, no real need to solder.

its very simple all color coated once you get the harness...hardest part is isomounting the head unit itself which is a breeze.

Another option (depending on the CD player) is to get a harness that clips into the radio. I know with my panasonic, I bought an adapter that clipped into the radio itself, then it had a plug on the other end that plugged into a subaru specific harness and THAT plugged into the factory wiring. Sounds like a lot of plugs, but it was just 2 pieces at like $20 a piece. Simple and plug and play.

^^called a smart harness, they are sometimes bad thoguh because there have been many cases were certain wires were in the wrong place on the harness.
