Alright... i hate doing this ricer bullshit, but I've got some kid that keeps running his mouth talking about how the STi is weak compared to his stock 3000GT VR4 twin turbo on 18" chrome wheels... Whats the deal? I looked up the specs on it, and suprisingly enough, it says that they get 320hp at 7,000rpm and are all time all-wheel drive :eek3:
they have like 20 hp more than you guys but they also weigh 500lbs more. and this site said their 0-60 is 5.4 so i guess even i can take them 0-60.
Alright... I just didn't want to be complete suprised, and well, embarrased He is 16 and wants to go to the mountain and "show us up" :squint: We'll see about that:sx:
haha in the mountains, no way. I'm pretty sure a wrx could leave him in the twisties, let alone your beastly suspension. They're fast cars, but like others said, they're really chunky.
big and heavy, but have all wheel steering, and active suspension...dont be suprised if you cant shake him on the twisties.... i have a 3kgt and wrx
However, the all the extra goodies are heavy and can break easily..... 18 chrome wheels must be heavy as shit anyways.
simple math how far you go in a time limit - is area under the torque curve So if you hit it first and maintain it for the duration while the competition is still climbing to the max, you will wait at the finish with a half drank bottle of your fav drink.
Although I sens sarcasm (maybe), this is the kind of post that cause a cross-forum flame party hnoes: ...well actually this whole thread...
I like 3000gt's. Fat chicks need love too :keke: I kid I kid! no but in all honesty it would come down to a drivers race. Both cars have amazing potential
he's 16, and I'm 20 with professional on track experience... I'm talking about 1/4 mile. I know I'll take it in the mountains
I'm pretty sure you'd still take him. Stock for stock you might have a race. But with your mods, I would imagine you'd be alright.
I am sure your car will easily outperform a stock one but please don't take it anywhere but a track. No good can come out of racing an inexperienced driver or even an experienced driver on the street. BTW: I have run against one at one of the track days at Silver Dollar and it ran mid 11's. They can be very fast but stock for stock the STi is faster.
if james was tuned then i favor the STi VR4 has 6 cyl the torque comes on quite early and pulls all the way If the STi hav a good launch it can stay ahead is the VR4 - stock ? manual ? mods ?
Your right Ming... I do need a tune VR4 is a manual, but only modified as far as 18" chrome wheels and two 12" subs... He's 16
Haha that reminds me, my Dad said he had a friend with one of those and he used to wave at people with his spoiler. Do you know what year the 3000gt is? Because they're performance numbers went up at some point (maybe 94?) Before that they were 300 hp I believe.
They have decent power, but also weigh a lot. I can't see it being any trouble honestly. Heck if it is just hang on until something breaks on it
i have heard that the vr4 has really long gears... doesn't their 3rd break 100? an STi breaking 100 needs to be in 5th gear so its a disadvantage in the 1/4th mile
Yeah, when back when I was looking for my next car (which turned out to be the wrx) I looked at a 92 vr4. The guy was talking about how around town he rarely got out of 3rd gear. The ratios are pretty large, something I had forgotten about.
good luck, but PLEASE keep it at the track the mountains are the LAST place a testosterone-filled, under experienced kid needs to be proving himself.
is he the one with the blk one? and lives around gainesville? it if is you can take him no problem. he tried to race me when i was stock and h got his butt whopped. 7-8 car lengths... he cant drive./shift i have this great video of what 3000gts are good for but its NFWS~! 3000gt knob girl some of you might know hehe
If he's stock I'd think that an STI would be quicker but with mods those cars can be pretty quick. You should come out to the GA3S/SELOC track day in a couple weeks and see how you both fare, get him to come out too. There will be several 3000GTs and Dodge Stealths there of all mod stages. GA3S/SELOC Track Day
now me and the mad scientist have to tear down the block and replace the piston rings you fried. hahaha
:slap: fast and furious quotes FTL The VR4 weighs in at a piggish 3800+ lbs... the extra 20hp (1994-up) isn't going to help much. Like the 350Z, it's gonna be sluggish at best off the line without some upgrades. Those are highway runners, not 1/4 cars in stock form. You'll smoke him imo.
You can have any brew you want...as long as it's a Corona. (that one always makes me cringe with its blatant product plug)
I smell... (sniffs) Skanks! Why don't you girls just pack it up before I leave tread marks on your face?
lol...those quotes will never get old. a personal fav: "So much torque, the chassis TWISTED off the line"
