Has anyone installed a Kartboy shifter and bushing kit on an 06' STi? I was reading a DIY article, and I got lost somewhere on the 3rd page of a "15 minute" installation... 15 minutes just to read the DIY :squint: I'll be attempting it sometime next week if someone wants to lend a hand, if your off work that is.
SPT is the entire linkage assembly. Kartboy/Cobb/etc. are just the lever itself. Any of th levers are definitely a little easier than the SPT to install.
Strayen you can install the Kartboy shifter ontop of the STI linkage. It'll reduce the shifting down an additional 40%.
ding ding ding. That's what I did. You will love he short notchiness of the STI Linkage with the upgraded bushings and Kartboy lever. sorry for the thread jack James. I will b down to help you get that stuff into your car. When I did mine it didn't take but about an two hours total for the lever and bushings The only thing different about the STI is the reverse lockout cable. Check out IWSTI or Scobby Mods for an install video. If I can find it I will post it in this thread. edit: here is one for the cobb shifter but you get the idea. http://videos.hspn.com/?videoid=30&catid=1
dont mean to threadjack: is the spt the same as the regular factory option 'short shifter' for a wrx? my car came with this and while I like it, I could stand for it to be shorter. iirc, if i get a kartboy lever I need to get an RS one instead of the regular wrx kartboy lever offering?
the easiest way I found to install the Kartboy SS is to put the shift knob back on, line up the SS ball and the socket it goes into and slam your hand down on the shift knob. it should pop right into place.
You need an RS kartboy lever to work with the factory shift linkage. It'll reduce the throw by an additional 40%
