Is anybody on here running one? I've read a lot of threads on nasioc and iwsti about them and each thread just becomes a pissing contest as to whether or not the stock pulley is a harmonic damper. So I ask you, have any WRXatl guys been using one for years with no problems? I'm looking for just a little bit more power out of my setup since I dont have the funds to swap turbos out and retune all the time.
I have the Perrin Pulley. I love it. I had one in my '04 WRX and now in the '06 STi. The revs go up quicker. Perrin said the light pulley is equivalent to shedding 100lbs off the car. Its not too noticeable because is a linear gain, but I would buy one if I were you ! Every 100lbs. you shed of a car is also equivalent to a tenth of a second off your 1/4 mile time. No problems whatsoever...

our cars don't need harmonic balancer's they are naturally balanced via the flat 4 piston setup. it is just a crank pulley that powers your accessories.
i had one that was underdriven and loved it except for voltage loss. so i would not get an underdriven one if i were you but there are plenty of lightwieght ones that are not underdriven. i say get one. there really easy to install.
Misfire much? I've always heard that our cars like one or the other but less than a 12lb flywheel or a lightweight flywheel plus lightweight crank pulley and you'll get a lot of misfires. I'm off to go look for some used crank pulleys, Cobb or Perrin.
like ezio350 said.. ive heard that as well.. ill be getting one pretty soon... its very cheap and would hurt having one.
Thats my only concern, not too many guys have run these for more than 25K miles. I want to know how they'll handle 100K down the road. I honestly dont see how its any different from adding a lightweight flywheel as far as damping lateral movements of the crankshaft. AR FAB Harmonic Damper This looks to be pretty good, its only a pound lighter but claims to damp much stronger than the stock one, but thats assuming that the stock pulley even has a damping effect.
I've had mine since 100k and I'm at 123-4k right now. It has held up great. Only thing you can really see is where it's worn the paint a bit where the belt is on it.
image isn't there anymore, damn... it was the ranma panda... except it was a lot cooler than this one. btw, i read that post on iwsti... very interesting debate going on. it would be nice to have something lighter that wouldn't tear things up in the long run though. dropping 100lbs always sounded sweet
