I am flying on a helicopter @ 8:00 am tomorrow morning to the forbidden island of Niihau. ITT has some unmanned radar sites there and an ATM switch...Man, this will be an awesome trip....there are a total of 4 of us that are going for the familiarization trip. It is 17 miles ENE of Kauai...They said we will have a chance to do some exploring also...hopefully will have a chance to see some reef sharks and some whales, etc. I will try to get some pics, but I may not be allowed. You can do a Google search on Niihau to check it out!!. There are only 300 people that live on the island and they are 100% Hawaii natives. This island is owned by the Robinson family also. Mark :wavey:
I am bringing my camera phone with me....Hopefully they will allow us to take photos on the way over or back....It is only like a 10 minute flight from PMRF. Mark
I think I read somewhere that ITT has a deal with the people of Niihau. The deal works like this: ITT sends 4 people over and the locals chose one to be their new king. After a big feast they then throw him in the volcano as a sacrifice to their gods. The gracious natives then renew the lease for one more year. Good luck.
My friend that was with me took plenty of great pics of whales, sharks, and other critters, plus some scenery shots with his digital camera and he is going to download them and send them to me Monday.....Be patient.... Mark
I am going to post a few pics of a beach that a friend and I hiked about a mile to get to...It is like that beach on the Corona beer ad...I am NOT kidding...LOL.....By the way...the Niihau pics should be on by Tuesday...They were too big and I need to re-size them...Scotty B...Can you help me with them if I e-mail them to you?. Mark
Just a suggestion, you may want to look into something Picasa to host/resize/edit images. Also, as a supporting member, you are also able to host your pictures here. It looks like you are trying to attach the photos to the post, and therefore, limited to 19.5K.
I will post the rest of the pics tonight. Those are grey reef sharks. That is a place where they breed off of the island. We counted 42 total. Mark
