using a guide like Jorge's project, what is the biggest tranny cooler that would fit up in there, do you think?

the one he used was a Hayden which was 7.5" x 13".

I got a free one which is 8"x18", but i'm not sure it will fit safely.

I've still got the hayden 403 on my car, one of these days I'll get off my lazy ass and plumb it up as an engine oil cooler. I'd just go with the 403 unless you're building some crazy drag racer, its only $40. You can always get one, pull everything apart to install it and see if you can fit the larger cooler then go return the hayden. With a cooler that big I'd definately rig up a thermostat to the cooler so that it can bypass the cooler in order for the tranny to warm up. Cold ATF is just as bad as hot ATF, you just want that middle ground.

we'll be leaving the stock splashbox in and i've been reading documentation. That thing should keep it still streetably warm when not drag racing, but I'm also installing temp guage too, to keep an eye on things.

think there's room for this big free one?

No clue, I've never pulled that stuff out before, in the morning I'll take a look at mine and see how much clearance there is.

Are you going to try to tap into the OEM test port on the tranny? Its a very shallow hole and my autometer probe didnt fit (it was too long) but some other companies' probes will fit.
