Tire Help

Discussion in 'Modifications & DIY how-to' started by Nemesis Digital, Mar 14, 2007.

  1. I decided I didnt want to roll my rear fenders, and instead im going with a 215/45/17. The one I found matches my current 225/50/16 tread width that does not rub. Slightly less actually.

What do I need to look for as far as a tire that will fit on the 17? (Rota Tarmac II) Or will all 215/45/17s fit that rim.

I think you can go up to a 225/45/17 on the 7.5in wide rims safe without rubbing as long as it's around a 48 offset and you dont have a 2" or greater drop. Wider tires than normal for a rim = ride comfort, narrower tires than normal = performance b/c less flex in the sidewall.

From what I can gather you're getting new wheels and concerned about fitment???
You won't have a problem going 225 if you want to. I run 17x8.5s with 245/45s with no rubbing after a MINOR rear rolling... I run Eibach (sp?) springs that have about a 1.5/2" drop. 225/45 would be perfect IMHO. 7.5" rim, right?
