So who is going to the first AR race this Sunday at Turner Field? I will be there with a co-driver, but I don't know who yet, because my co-driver hit a deer on his motorcycle. He may be out for a little while with a shoulder injury.
IF and its a big If, I can find time to get to SOG to get my exhaust leak fixed, I will be out, if not, points event number two here I come...
Annual Techs kick ass, as it saves a bunch of time, only getting the inspection done once, rather than waiting in line at each event. Here are the supps for it: -- Brian
I'm registered for Sunday. Looks like I'll have to finally renew my SCCA membership so I can do annual tech this season. Season pass looks like a good deal too. I would be all over that if I wasn't going to be moving mid-season. I'm still on the fence for saturday. Having two weekend hobbies is frustrating.
Is there a '07 WRXAtlanta competition this year? I haven't seen a thread about it yet... I'm probably going Sunday, but with the bugs I need to work out I doubt I'll be running it. We'll see.
As far as we know, yes. There's also going to be a S2kAtlanta vs WRXAtlanta challenge :dirty: Im registerd, if my foot doesnt heal by then I dont see myself making it out there. If its in good shape to drive, then Ill be there
Would this be a good event for a first-time autoX? I'm interested in getting into this stuff, and I think it would be really cool to get started with you guys from the wrxatlanta community.
That's going to be interesting... one of my bosses is part of S2KAtlanta and I've been telling him my car is stock this whole time.... :naughty:
Would I need to sign up just to bring my car in to where all of yalls are going to parked? I dont want to run but I also dont want to leave my car out in the parking lot either.
Make sure you don't jump into it and start modding the heck out of your car. Talk with a lot of people that have been autox'ing for a while and see what they think about your goals once you've tried it. I always say that I would do things differently with autox, if I knew what I know now back when I started...
Just curious, for the benefit of the new folks to autox, myself included, what wouuld you have done differently?
My first mod was an uppipe, which put me into ESP immediately. I had no other mods, and I got killed for the first year in ESP. Then I struggled to get enough mods to be competitive. $3k+ later I am competitive in ESP. Brian, why are you registered in CSP with the STi? Just curious, has the STi changed from BSP since last year?
SSCA Technical Services- Dated 3/13/2007 2007 Stock Category Classifications By Manufacturer.xls ... Subaru | Impreza WRX STi |2004-2007 | F4 2.5L Turbo | A Stock | AS ... Subaru | Impreza WRX except STi | D Stock | DS Am I reading this correctly? Did they bump Subarus up a level?
The stock classes are still the same as you have listed them. I think they may have moved the STi street prepared to CSP from BSP (thats just an assumption from BrianGT's registration). The WRX is still in ESP.
He does, but his car is listed as the STi. Maybe its supposed to be the CRX, because that would make more sense.
haha, I selected the wrong car from the drop-down box. I changed it to my CSP CRX now I had the right car selected for the T&T and the afternoon TO2 session though. -- Brian
i signed up also. i believe im runnin in the morning session, hope to hang with some of you guys again!
lol tell me about it man! i finally bit the bullet, now all im worried about is not lookin like a TOTAL newb on the track. time to read up on all the helpful links brian provided! are you gunna be running in the morning also?
I really wouldn't worry about looking like a newb. I can almost gauruntee you that someone will do something more stupid than you.
thanks for the encouragement man, what im mainly worried about is know where the hell to go..i took a few rides with milo last season but since it was my first time even at an autox i couldnt focus on where the hell he was goin. im looking forward to the track walks and since i ll be working the track during the first heat i ll hopefully get it figured out..cant wait!
Everyone was new to autox at one time, so don't worry! We have a novice chief who will be around the timing trailer for check-in to give a novice drivers meeting and novice course walk. That should get you up to speed on where to grid your car, how to work course etc. Also when you are driving don't hesitate to ask a grid person for somebody to ride along with you on your runs if you are getting lost.
My first autox, there was a roundabout that clemson made, so it was a four way intersection. I just stopped in the middle of it trying to figure out where to go until one of the corner workers pointed me in the right direction. Just laugh about it if you screw up. Just try not to hit the timing lights.
Two pieces of advice. One, get there early and walk the course as many times as you can. Two, don't worry about your times the first couple of runs, take it a little more slowly and get the course locked down, then, give it a little more juice for the last two runs...
