What is every one's favorite method of installing an UP? From what I have read on line it looks like I will do the engine jack method. Has anyone seen that 130MB video documenting it? http://9-2x.dynamic-dyno.com/RemovingUp-pipeCat.html

I saw somewhere someone (Moose I thought) said that it can be removed with finesse with out jacking the engine. How? Also do I need to remove the EGT probe if I am not reusing it? I want to try it this Friday since I have a long weekend to have the car down... Anyone want to help? I also have a Turbo XS Stealth Back to install.

I may be able to help you out on Friday.

There's no need to remove the EGT probe, you won't use it on your new up.
Anytime I've done an up, I've just jacked the motor.

Make sure you get new gaskets. Also, pay attention to your re-tightening sequence.
It also helps to heat cycle the motor a couple of times. Helps make sure everything's torqued up
nice and let's you know if you've got a leak.

That would be sweet. I am out in Loganville and can supply lunch... The only thinkg I need is the resistor. I believe it is a 2.2K Ohm. If that is it, I will get it tomorrow at Radio Shack.

  4. Heh, sorry about not mentioning about the EGT bung, i just thought it was an O2 sensor...

Have fun getting that sucker out!

If you're not opposed to making a little drive, I've actually got air tools here at my house.
They'll make it go MUCH faster.

    PM me for my address.

I have a thread in the DIY forum about UP/DP install, and yes, I believe you can do any UP without moving motor or turbo... you just move it forward/down a bit, then rotate 180 degrees while pulling up and back. Resistor is 2.2 kOhm, 1/2 watt. Pay close attention to torque specs and use a torque wrench wherever possible.

Haha, whenever I break down and buy a downpipe to make my gutted up worth installing, I'm definitely sending a pm your way.

I thought it was easier after I removed the EGT, but that was just because I couldn't stand rotating it around with that stupid thing poking everything.

Another install Day at Peds? I need to redo my up/dp to put new gaskets on. Shouldn't be quite as bad as actually doing everything, but almost...

I don't know if I can speak for Ped, but come on. We can caravan...

Did I see you over at Gymboree on Tuesday? I pulled into a parking spot and thought about going inside to say hi, but didn't want to interrrupt you.

Yep, then we went to Bassano's for dinner. Thats a nice little pizza place, and they have Sierra Nevada on tap! :) I was behind you the other day when you pulled into the exxon(I think..) right across the street from there. You didn't see me though.
