brakes install [june 2] edit: I got the brakes! time to install... So, mini-install day at ped's this saturday! PM him for directions. FREE food/drinks, of course! If y'all want to go to a bar afterwards, I'll buy some beer too!"
I recently installed stoptech BBK. It took me little while to figure how to take off the rotor from the knuckle. Tip : Screw in a bolt (from brake line i think) into the small slot near the center of rotor. Stoptech's installation manual covers everything in detail. It's good to have someone else helping you out for brake bleeding. and whole thing shouldn't take more than 2hr.
Let me know if you want some help with this. I'll be more than glad to, and you know I've got the tools.
Thanks bro! It'll probably be 4-6 weeks... by the time they're bought, shipped and I'm ready to install. I'll probably make another thread. :wavey:
The hardest part about this install like said before is getting the rotor nut off of the rotor. I covered how to remove the rotors in my DIY about stud removal. The size of the bolt is there, but you also need a long pole for leverage. This is a huge nut with a lot of torque on it. Needless to say, I used a cheater bar with a 4' fence post attached to it. My car still rolled forward even in gear and the parking brake on when I was torque'ing on that puppy.
Alright, I bought the brake kit. Rotors, pads, and SS lines should be here friday, but maybe not till the next business day (tuesday). So, I guess I want to shoot for a June 2nd install. Anybody? (ped?) I need a place to do it and I don't have that many tools.I also want to paint the calipers black and try to fix an exhuast leak (I bought new turbo gaskets). FREE food/drinks, of course! If y'all want to go to a bar afterwards, I'll buy some beer too!
I'll be more than glad to offer the house. I replied back to both you and jyang in jyang's UP install thread. PM me and I'll shoot you directions to the house.
I may be down with that. I can install my RSB. I still want to find some bushings for it. Alex recommended trying to use the stock ones. Maybe they will stretch. Or maybe I could find some when I am down at Summit tonight.
