First off, I don't know if this is the place to be asking about prices, or whether I should be phoning someone But, I'd like to know how much it would be to get the following bought and installed on my 06 STI. And, also, if there are better alternatives that I should be going with Whiteline ajustable front sway bar (27mm?) SPT Performance Exhaust, High Air Flow intake, and Heat Shield (got an email from Subaru a few months ago about it). Also, what is generally the lead time on getting them and having them installed? Cheers
subarugenuineparts.com and the stuff you listed is easily installed by your self ... or with the help of others. the sway bars are what 150?
I would just give the SOG parts a call up. I know they usually have the sways in stock. Not to sure about the SPT items. As far as installation I know SOG can do it, but again think about posting up on the boards. Lots of people here are extremely knowledgable and on top of that you can learn something about your car. You be amazed what some pizza n beer can get you some help with
This is true, although I'm always afraid of breaking something. If the dealer does it then I don't have to worry about that so much. I can barely change the clutch on an R6
yeah if you do the installs at home you not only learn more about your car you save $$ so its a win/ win situation. not getting the rear sway? why just the front? unless you have one in the back. you want more understeer?
is i a cat back or a full exhaust? intake shouldnt take more than 30 min. (well on a evo that is.)lol you will need a ramp to get the exhaust done. sways especially the front ones its a little tricky w/o a lift.
If you decide to install the exhaust I could help out. I have ramps and I installed mine ( downpipe, catback) in 40 minutes. I also have some cusco hangers(3 of them for $15) that I dont use anymore. I used them for a week or 2. After I got a trailer hitch on it I had to buy the kartboy long hangers.
I would be more than willing to help you install the parts, and save a good bit of money. Just post up when you plan to do it, and offer beer and I am sure you will get more offers for help.
depending on timing, I would be able to help also. everything you listed is a piece of cake to install
Hit somebody up for some help with those parts for real man. It'll be a lot more fun to do it in someones driveway over a beer or two than to wait in that horrible little waiting room at SOG. (no offense guys) And don't forget a lot cheaper, and you make some great friends in the process. Bottom line. If you're cool this is the best place in the world for you cause these guys are almost completely drama free.
Heh, wow, thanks for all the offers of help guys. I might do that. Just sold my bike so now have a bit of spare cash floating about. Unless the wife finds it first I've always been one of those people who likes getting things done by people who get paid for it, as if they screw it up, they fix it...if I screw it up..it's usually broke
Just let us know when... There are plenty of people that'll help out, me included. The parts you have listed aren't really that easy to break, meaning you'd have to do something completely wrong, which won't happen with all the great local Suby community to help you out. I could understand if you were talking about turbo/motor swaps, etc.... That being said, there's certainly nothing wrong with paying SoG (specifically Will {WJM}) to do the work for you.
Just an FYI and take it for what its worth... but, there's a thread on IWSTI.com about Subaru's "power pack". A guy on there dyno'd his car stock, installed the power pack and dyno'd again(same dyno and conditions) and actually lost power. I'd skip the intake alltogether or go for a cold air intake if you really want one...
27 front bar (adjustable is always better imho) 24 rear (ditto) you do not NEED an aftermarket rear bar. the front bar will dial OUT some of the understeer (that's how subies roll). both bars are preferable though (especially if you plan on doing high performance driving) i dunno much about spt stuff so look around for reviews. or, call will at sog and ask him. if the spt is just catback, wait and save your money for a full turbo-back exhaust. stay AWAY from short rams unless you plan on going with a front-mount intercooler. stock intake box is plenty until you're going for serious numbers above stock. if you like the sound, remove the silencer (free, safe and easy) LOTS of knowledgeable/skilled people here... watching ped work is like watching a jedi knight slice tomatoes blindfolded with a sabre. watching will work is like watching a jedi master slice tomatoes by merely thinking about it. none of the stuff you mentioned is really "breakable" unless you're trying to actually break it... with a sledghammer.
