Is this event going to be in the morning/early afternoon? I'd love to bring the car out if possible but I'm going to have to work at 5:30 that night.
Anyone know why I can't get in for registration? I go to the link, but it keeps telling me registration closed on the 30th of March...Never mind, though the link is WONKY from the events page. Kept taking me to points event number 2. I had to go into the calendar and select it from there....

Ah HA! I was wondering about that too. I kept waiting for the link to update and start working. I'm all signed up. Hopefully I won't make too big of an ass of us. I'm not a very good autoX driver...
from http://www.soloatlanta.com/ it states that april 22's event is hosted in the green lot? But under dlbracing.com it states that the even is hosted in the blue lot? registereted
I guess i'll be there i can bring like a 100 foot magnet strip for numbering the cars Also do we need helmets?
They will have loaners available, but yes, you will need a helmet on your head to drive...cool on the magnets!
I'll come and ride along with some people. Meredith, I'm taking you up on your offer. I'll also take a ride in 420's and whoever else wants to give me a ride. I'll need a loaner helmet too. Where can I buy helmets? Motorcycle shop? What time is this happening?
You are more than welcome to catch a ride with me, and anyone else who is interested in seeing first hand what Auto X is about is welcome to ride along also. I just registered and am looking forward to this event. It will be my first Auto X since the First PCA Auto X last year. I will not miss the entire season this year, I promise. PS Brian - If you are still cool with it, I would love to try the CRX at an event this year. Not this event, but maybe one in the future.
hopping over from the threadjacked mtn run thread... i'm pretty sure i'll be there to hang out, ride along and help out where i can. strayen - not sure if passengers need helmets for autoX (although they prob should) but if you do buy a helmet it's got to be at least Snell SA2000 rated if plan on gettin on a roadcourse in the future. i believe they're selling SA2005 now. might as well get the 2005. 2000's wont be acceptable in 3yrs iirc. these guys have good prices: http://www.helmetcity.com but you can find them a lot of places. i don't think moto shops will have them though.
I'm going to sign up. But are the club classes in the morning or afternoon? [edit] It looks like morning from Milo's post, just want to make sure.
It was recently moved to the Green lot, as it is a bit bigger in terms of paddock space. The blue lot is an interesting lot though, with the elevation changes. There should be some events in the Blue lot this season. Here is a map of the lots if anyone is curious: -- Brian
Anyone in a moving car on the course is required to wear a helmet. Since there are usually no more than 2 or 3 cars on course at any given time, we will have spares between out group. I am sure another member would be willing to lend their helmet if they are not running around the same time.
The event is now in the green lot and with new pavement...per www.soloatlanta.com I'll be there....minus $40 :fawk: Just registered.
The last time I was out there, the green lot was pretty slick. Allows for a lot of cool drift-o action and reduced tire wear :bigthumb:
green lot was fun. the new asphalt is smoothg as glass. they had a nice transition at the top of peek. there's NOTHING more fun than power sliding an AWD car into a turn.
This Is Going To Be Great List of participating clubs has been updated. This is going to be great. GA3S is on board and we still have 1 week left. I have found several people who have not registered correctly. I have been working closely with Milo from WRX ATL & Joe from S2K ATL to keep people registered the right way. There are some that have registered on the Season Pass System that are not registered correctly. Milo, if you can take a look you will see several WRX ATL cars that need to be corrected. I have not seen anyone from SELOC registered yet. We are approaching the 20 to 30 driver range. Great job. Redline Auto Club will have between 10 & 15. Look forward to seeing everyone on April 22nd & April 28th. J Man Alan Cox Automotive Redline Auto Club
Well, I've never autocrossed before. And I probably have so many mods that I'd be in the super hard to beat anybody class. Otherwise I'd probably be there.
Classing is based only on tires. I assume you have street tires, so you will be in CWS class. Come out and represent. Not finalized yet.
I'll sign up closer to the date. Gotta wait on the paycheck. Should be fun to leave a trail of snails behind me
Dang. I was really looking forward to the Blue lot... I have almost no interest in cone dodging on cobblestone. ohwell... It's still going to be a good time! When and where is the road course?
i bet. but, with my stocker set-up, i think i'd be pushing before the ass came around. no rear bias love for me. (insert all gay jokes here)
If I remember correctly, the blue lot has a decent gradient on most (if not all) of the course. The green lot is flatter and bigger. Depending on how the course is set up, the effect of the stones could be minimized. From my experience, as long as they do not lie just before or in the middle of a turn, they don't really bother me. Regardless, it's going to be a fun event Details on the road course have not been finalized yet. The organizing committee will be focusing on it after the autocross event.
I agree. Nothing but fun. What would be nice is a brick section at the end of a turn, but that wouldn't be fair. The past two times I've been on the Green, they have the bricks mid turn, right when I'm typically a bit sideways, WOT. I was excited to play on the elevation change of the Blue. That looks like fun.
