if it is a hatch, how do they still have that massive wing on the back?
hopefully someone will come out with a nice front grill and bumper, it looks pretty boring now

i'd like to know how much lighter it is, if it's on the order of 200kg+ that'd be awesome and a half. And....they say 2.0L, does that mean EJ207?

Nice nice...was just looking at the sketches this morning. I dig it. Very euro looking.

Haven't seen where anybody said it would be lighter. With the multi-link rear and Subaru's stating it would no longer be using much aluminum, I expect it to be HEAVIER...

Still ugly as hell, and seems like they stole the design from the Peugeot 206. Of course adding some giant spoliers, body kits, and huge rims will make it look better, but sorry Subaru, thats strike two in my mind.

i'm liking it quite a bit... the wing is a bit civic hatch-rice looking though... light schedule looks real nice.

why must they feel the need to go to hatchback? If it ends up looking like any of these pictures and I had a choice of either this or the evo, I'd no doubt go for the new evo.

And I'm sure like all of the new styles it will grow on me, but it would grow on me a lot more if it had a trunk. I wish Subaru could put out a new model that didn't have to grow on me. That I immediately was like "wow that's completely badass." Hasn't happened yet...

keep in mind that the top WRC runners are hatches, expect to see subaru and mitsu go to hatches... there's prob some mechanical benefit to be had. Citroen has been handing people their asses in a hatch for the last two years. of course sebastien loeb (sp?) is an incredible driver, too.

    FTZ ^.^

But WRC changes regularly. I think it was the late 90s when Richard Burns was driving for Subaru, they won 3 times. At that point, Puegot, Citroen, Ford, and Skoda were all in Hatchbacks. I think it is more the driver then the car.

  21. Maybe the best drivers now prefer hatches. heh.

According to a source of mine, this is the new 2008 STi. I hear they have 6 exhaust pipes and 252.45 HP. There is a sedan, hatch, and 7 passenger version with sliding doors...

I can't wait to buy mine!

What really grabbed my attention were the weights

    STi = 3300 lb
    Evo X = 3500 lb

You may have a point though. The STi might be a LOT better this time. :D

  46. bomjoon

yeah my next performance car will be a STi but i dont know about the new look, may be i'll stick with the 07's

07 have a different turbo right? than the 06's?

  47. bluetwo

    bluetwo Active Member

Different turbo? That'd be a new one on me but I didn't think there were really any changes to speak of other than paint. Not for the last year. I thought it was more like they were just selling 06's as 07's (except for the Limiteds) to clear out the warehouses or something. Kinda like what happened to the NSX's. Wouldn't surprise me if that's what Mitsu did with the 9's. But then again there is a constant fight for dominance going on.

  48. bomjoon

    bomjoon Active Member

yeah mitsu did do that with the SE versions.

i guess they had leftovers from MR's and had to get rid of it.

im glad they put in MIVEC, upgraded hotside, and interior in for the 9's though...

  49. bluetwo

    bluetwo Active Member

Yeah. Didn't they add stability control or something too?

  50. bomjoon

    bomjoon Active Member

no.... they did add this ACD (active center differencial) but the 05's had it too.
