He drove a silver 2004 Nissan Sentra SE-R for points #1, which I believe he drove for this event too. I have no clue what club he represents, but it isn't the S2katl club, so the 1st and 2nd place results shouldn't change. -- Brian
looks like I missed a fun event. It always seems I have to miss the fun ones. Hopefully I'll be able to make it out to the next one.
Joey drives a Black WRX TR. He has his own thread here and was suppose to be sponsored by WRX Atlanta. I too had a fun time and enjoyed seeing everyone again. Hopefully I can come to some more events this year.
Trey, Haro, Trey, it all makes sense now. great meeting you guys. i tend to get sucked in to watching the event, so sorry if i didn't get to meet everyone. Mere, you found me 2 seconds by busting on me. you'll have to give me shit again at the next auto-x. Thanks. balls to the wall seems to be the secret.
Everyone please check to see if your registration with WRXatlanta shows up in the results. I need to finish some processing for the rebates by tomorrow morning. If you do not show up as representing WRXatlanta, your rebate may not be processed.
NP . The course was designed by Jay who's philosophy is that a car should be driven on the edge (at an autox). Jay told me that the course would only be fast for those who drive their cars "at the edge" ie balls to the wall . You are only about 3 seconds off of Ben who is running hooisers; not too shabby I had a hard time driving that way myself due to driving a bunch of different cars at the Novice school saturday including my own car on street tires. It took me a run to remember what my car feels like on R-comps. I've been trying a new philosophy of using my first run to a) find the limit and b) posting a really fast time even if it's a bunch of cones or a DNF. I personally rather find the limit of the course and dial back the places I messed up on my first run than run it the course at 8/10s and spend my next three runs trying to find the extra 2/10s.
^^ I like that. I was talking with your husband about my first runs at the past events, recently. I decided, I take the first run waaaay to easy. If you don't mind, I may adopt your approach. Nice work everyone! Too bad I couldn't make it out. I'm guess we'll have some more new folks at Points #4. :naughty:
How do we "check"? I see my name in Brian's point tally for the club, but it wasn't listed on the raw results posted on the SCCA forums. I was registered is STX, and that is where my name appears, but I did enter CWS in the registration form as well...
I will too. I usually puss out in the first run to get used to seeing the course, but after three walks, I should be good to go already. It's a wasted run anyhow, might as well DILYSI. :naughty:
I had no balls for my first two runs.. didn't push the car hard until my 3rd run. I did this for the first points event too. I just need to get the confidence to push hard my first run, or at least the second run I still had places that I held back on for my 4th run. I can't wait for points #4 . I will update Joey's entry for the Club Wars. -- Brian
That is how I ran this time. Pushing hardest on the first 2 runs. I used to gradually build up, but then you find out, you get your last run, and push to hard and DNF. Better to start hard, see where you are going to hot, and back down a little from there. Aside from my first run, the rest were all very consistent, within 1 second of my times each run, gradually getting a little quicker as I found where to push harder, and where to lighten up a little. Anyways, had a great time. Good to see such a good WRXatlanta turnout. Can't wait for the next event.
Hey guys, I'm Joey. I registered for the event with all the appropriate stuff, then when I got there, I wasn't on the list, so the guy just put in CWS. I drive a black WRX, and represent, of course WRX atlanta. Sorry about that. Thanks for the complimentTrey!
It was weird. The harder I pushed the faster my times got. Last run I didn't brake the last half of the course and just "drifted" through
I added some information that I have received to the results, and included the points totals: Let me know if you have any corrections. I will generate the official results when I receive the final results on Friday. -- Brian
Here are pics from ARSCCA forums. A few subies made the cut... http://picasaweb.google.com/autoXjunky/AtlantaRegionSCCAPts3
just an off-the-cuff question... was evo se invited? oh, and i did show up for a few hours and had a blast this is definitely something i'd like to get into soon milo is fast
i never really thought about it, but every race, my first time is my best. then i just get crazy and sloppy, brake too little - too late. this course was really fun, great design.
It means you drive instinctually. You probably need to stop thinking about the course layout and where you can get faster when you are waiting in between runs. Just go out there and react to the course.
i do zone out and go thru each turn and it's braking point in my head. this sunday i had some Fu Manchu playing in the staging area. i thought that'd help me get my groove on.
Whoo Hoo! I contributed a whopping 4 points! Hahaha... And considering I don't drag and don't have much power for the road course, looks like that's all I'm going to be worth. Ohwell, It was fun...
How did you figure out how many points you contributed? Milo was pretty fast this weekend. Balls to the wall.
didn't you get a giant Buick wagon with the LS V8 and simulated wood grain paneling? i might be mixing up my members.
Congradulations Congratulations on helping to put on a great event. Be sure to come & invite your friends to Tuner Night / Club Wars Awards this Sat Night at 6.00pm. Food will be provided. J Man Redline Auto Club Alan Cox Automotive.
I just got a $20 rebate for the club wars event. Thanks Subaru of America and whoever from WRXAtlanta that sent the info over there.
