May 12th (SATURDAY) Turner Field, Blue Lot. http://www.dlbracing.com/clubs/registera.aspx?Max=199&CSN=true&EWL=true&SMI=true&EventID=2772 See you guys and gals out there!
Shit, didn't realize that and just registered for the event. Damn that sucks. Wonder if I can unregister? Brian or Mere, is there a way for me to unregister?
Why not just do both? You would only miss a little of Drift Atlanta. You could even register for TO in the morning to be sure to make the DA event in the afternoon...
You can definitely un-register. Just cancel the registration and you should get a refund eventually. I am thinking now that I may run both depending on when ESP is running.
Run order for Points 4: YRPGB You're running first with me. http://www.soloatlanta.com/rungrouporder.htm
Most of the dates for gwinnett fairgrounds were taken up first by BMWCCA, PCA and various flea market/swap meets. This was due mostly because the use of the lot for autox was being challenged by a near by resident. So this year most SCCA events are at turner, as for the blue lot, that's what we got.
Yeah, I will be there since ESP is in the morning session. Besides I have seen the Panoz cars too many times before.

should be interesting. i'm in! turning up-hill on a hair-pin; this might be the first time i need to go down into 1st. has anyone run there before?
right. gold lot unless you're running a Kart. they should have a sign-up table at both the lot entrances.
i didn't have any time in the hair-pin to try going into 1st. anyone else try it? i heard a lot of folks doing it, however. the old 280Z went down into first a couple of different places on track.
I took it in 2nd each time. When Mere, my co-driver, was in my car, she did the same and executed it beautifully with no need to be in 1st gear coming out of the corner. I would also be curious to know if anyone on here did it. Anyone? Beuller?
What he said. There isn't really a reason to hit first unless you are missing the breaking zone, meaning breaking too late and too far into the corner. I haven't really experienced a tight enough turn around to want to go to first. Not to mention the amount of time it takes to shift and then you have to reload the engine, which means there will be no boost. My co-driver and I had no problem, and having stage2 definitely helped to get the boost back.
I tried downshifting out of the sweeper before the slalom, but only because I was off line. One my last run I finally nailed the line and did not need to downshift. Unfortunately my line was so much improved on that run I was carrying much more speed coming into the last right-hander before the finish, broke too late, and nailed three cones. Haven't slaughtered cones that bad in awhile.
I kept my car in 2nd for the whole course without issues. I was tempted to grab 1st, but I had my co-driver try it first, and when he shifted, and had one hand on the wheel, the torque steer threw him way offline.. damn FWD + LSD..... -- Brian
