I am gutting the one that cam out of my car now and have already gutted that one that is in it so I have some experience.

Basically just clamp it down, stud side up, and get a long 1/4" drill bit and make as many holes as you can. Mostly towards the middle if possible. You can feel when you get through the cat and hit the back wall of the pipe. It won't hurt anyhting if you ding it. Once you get your holes drilled, get a long cold chisel and start in the middle by driving it all the way through. the when you have that empty void in the middle you can work your way out so the material will fall into the middle and out the bottom. Every once in a while unclamp it from your work surface and get all the stuff that has come lost out. It is good to have some long needle nose plyers handy. Once your reach the outside wall get off as much as possible. Now you need a wire brush for a drill and an extension. I found mine at Sears. Go to town removing all the remaining material from the side walls. Use the drill in forward and reverse. When it is done it should look like this

its easy. Just stay in a well ventilated area and wear a mask.

Dust mask you say. Well ventilated. That is where I have been going wrong. I have been doing neither. Should I expect to have some sort of large tumor by next week?
