If you've never read it, pick up "Fahrenheit 451." It seemed so familiar, I had to check the copyright.

    Honestly, it's sooo timely.

This book is about firefighters whose job it is to burn books.

yeah, that is a good book. somehow i escaped reading it in HS, but my girlfriend (who graduated as a lit. major) recomended it to me. 1984 is good also if you haven't read it yet.

    1984 + 1 = 1985!!

but seriously, both are good books! I'll have to check out slaughterhouse 5. Same kinda theme in that one?

Interestingly, Bradbury was in an interview recently complaining about people misinterpreting Fahrenheit 451. It is not a rant against censorship but rather against the spread of television and the dumbing down of people. Great read though. :)

Slaughterhouse 5 is not similar to Fahrenheit 451, IMO. Different theme and very different style. 1984 and F-451 are far more similar.

Read the book a long, long time ago, but after reading this I just watched Slaughterhouse 5 for the first time. Excellent film, don't remember the book too much so I can't say how well it translated to film. Added bonus, complete 1970's style hottie with full boobage for a long time...
