indeed. these tires kick ass. There is a $100 rebate on potenza.com (for 4) for these also, if you are an scca or bmwcca member.

I'd be on this in a heartbeat if I didn't have another set of RE070's waiting in the garage. Sexy tire...had a chance to drive Mere's STi with these at the last ARSCCA autox. :bigthumb:

For $92 more you can have a set of 245/45, as they are on special for $143 each.

I considered wider tires but didn't want to deal with rubbing issues. If it rubbed, I would have to change the ride height, and I don't want to have it corner balanced and aligned again anytime soon.

Wow this is a steal. If my crappy Kumhos' weren't new I'd be all over a set.

What model of the Falkens have stiffer sidewalls?

When reading tire specs how do you tell how stiff the side walls are?

the RE-01Rs are much better in the rain than the Falkens also

Yes they definitely slick up when not given a chance to cool down. get out the hose.

How do these compare to RE70? (Which me love very mucho) LOL = )

    Especially Sidewall Etc...

I have had them on the car for a week or so now. I have not driven them hard but they seem to grip better, make less noise and are less prone to tracking groves in the road than the RE070 did. Then again, my RE070's were bald on the inner edge before I replaced them

The RE01r is seems gripper than the RE70; the 01r is definately better in the rain. Really can't say much about the sidewall as I am used to autoxing a 275 wide v710 on a 8 inch rim.... so any sidewall is better than that.

What scares me is the Re01 is the same tire they put on the TL type S... (I hate to think any lux company would put a high performance stiff/noisy tire on their car)

Don't they run the Potenza RE030 on the Type-S TL? I think you are mistaken about the REO1 is on that car.

So so so weird... He was talking about the type S wheel upgrade that are 18" not 17"

    hmm... 770-399-5552 <--- Firestone in Dunwoody... = )

So anyone who drives aggressive on this tire and loves it over the RE070? (Pushing the limit)

I could care less about noise or wet traction and I'm afraid that the tread pattern is a little to all season looking over the RE070?

TireRack stated that the RE01's are 2 Lbs. less due to them have one less layer in the sidewall -RE070 (On the tech sheets) this scares me also (NASIOC has lots of threads stating the sidewall wasn't as stiff)

I was burned in the past by going from a Toyo T1S to a beloved Yoko Parada Spec 2 (The Toyo was highly stiff and the Parada felt like I was on gravel at high speeds) Kaufmans swapped them out after a tech drove my car and agreed...

The issue at hand is your car set up for a stiff sidewall.... if it isn't I don't think it's a big deal especially if you are just driving around on the street. Apparently some STS2 people had initially draw backs on teh RE01 because their cars were setup for the stiffer sidewall of the azenis. However the RE01 has been proven to be faster than the azenis in STS2, so sidewall is more a mute point. I've driven Clays 06 on RE70s and my 05 with ohlins on RE01s.... teh RE01s definately have more grip and were faster for autox. I really could not tell if the sidewall was that "bad" because my car rides on signifcant stiffer shocks than Clays' 06. I really don't get why people are so concerned with the sidewall on these tires... it's not like they are Hancooks.
