Just curious what you guys that have this setup think? I currently have the JIC FLT-A2 7kF/ 5kR and they are stiff but tolerable. I'm assuming the Tein's will be somewhat the same ride.

    Your thoughts?

I love my Tein Flexes......prior to me owning them, Milo loved them ;)

I think Milo went on and got a set for his STi.

according to Alex, the Teins are leaps and bounds better than the JICs. Valving is 10x better on the Teins. Teins are more comfortable.

I was reading over at IWSTI and they all seem to not recommend the Tein products. That had me a lil worried.

I love mine and recently had them overhauled approx 100 each (I paid more to have them expedited) and I also have the EDFC it is a must.

I like mine as well. I don't have the EDFC, not really needed IMO. I think it's about time to have them rebuilt though.

Trey, to be honest I'm a little dissapointed with tein. They sent me a fucked up part and wouldn't do shit to fix it. If something ever breaks, your not getting help from tein. Also the spring rates are 10k 8k and it's really stiff. It feels alot stiffer that your car when I rode in it. Thirdly, Jeff at GTE said that the camber plates were the hardest to adjust he's ever dealt with. I've yet to figure them out in terms of damping adjustment, but I'm sure I'll be happier when I do. If you want to come over and check them out, I'd be happy to oblige. IMHO, you'd be better off with Cuscos or even HKS Hipermax.

Also, I don't know about the JIC's, but the teins are twin tubes. I dont know how important it is to you to have a monotube shock.

Have you looked into the KW V3s, Scott and I both thought they were the best street\track coilover that we have ever driven on.

Over on rs25.com there seems to be a lot of disappointment in the tein's, mainly due to the rate at which they need fixing from leaks. When spending as much money as you are on coilovers I wouldn't want to have to deal with that sort of shit. The BC racing one's also seem to be getting some good reviews.

As Delette mentioned, I had them on my WRX and now I have them on my STi. I have been very pleased with them and haven't had the need to change. I also haven't driven another car with a different setup so I can't compare them against other offerings on the market.

Brian has been researching around for coilovers; I think we are going with the ZZYZXs especially due to Joel's recommendation.

Teins are 100000x's better than JIC.

Koni's (ZZYZX coilovers) are 100000x's better than the Teins.

Stay away from D2, Cusco, JIC, and other brands based off their designs.

DMS coilovers are great, but are more for rally use. The Megans (the cheap ass ones on ebay) are suprisingly good. Ride/build quality is as good if not better than the teins for a lot less money.

The Ohlins are the TOP DOG of all of them.

Motons, JRC, Penskes are top dogs...ohlins are like pwt coilovers compared to those.

We were going to go with the ohlins since the shocks have been treating me so well; however it seems like that the ZZYXZ seemed to be more proven for SOLO. I know Rankins used to have the ohlins coilovers on his car last year for STU, never really got his thoughts on them.

ZZYZX are much better, but you pay for it. They are twice the amount as a decent Tein setup. Like Brett said, the JIC's valving is a little harsh, especially for highway driving. It will be very bumpy.

Let me know if you decide to sell the JIC's as I may be in the market for some coilovers.

In a nut shell (and I've driven the car too): Excellent for track/rally/street, but IMHO it needs a little more aggressive valving and springs to be up to par (zzyzx and some other custom jobs) on the autox courses. But thats as easy as a phone call and a little extra $.

The 04 STi still uses the 7kF/ 5kR springs. The 05+ uses the 10kF/ 8kR springs.

I'll be honest tho, I'm not paying for these so my choices are limited. The KW V3's look nice but not an option for me.

I'll most likely sell my JICs when I swap them out. $1000 for the set or $700 plus your STi struts and lowering springs.

In that case...WITH the EDFC...its awesome. lol

usually set it to 3/3 for comfy street driving...8/8 for a firm street ride....16/14 for autox/track.

    Thanks Will!!

So I just got a call that I have roughly $2200 to spend so anything in that range is do'able. I'm having the KW V3's priced ATM. w00t!
