    Club Wars: Round XX

    Type of Event:
    Road Course

    Classes:
    Open

    Location:
    Talladega Gran Prix Raceway (http://www.tgprace.com/)

    Date:
    Sunday, October 21st 2007

    Prizes:
Trophies will be awarded to the winners in each class. A constructors trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring club. The awards ceremony will be held at Alan Cox Automotive. Date and time TBA.

    Requirements:
    • Long pants and closed toe shoes
    • Snell 95/M2000 or higher rated helmet
    • Car numbers (will be assigned day of event)
    Registration:
Cost of the event will be $150 for a spot in the competition. The event will be time trial only and not head to head competition. The day will consist of morning practice and afternoon time trials.

A total of 40 spots are currently available to participating clubs. Initially these spots will be split evenly, with 8 spots reserved for each club until September 1st. Any spots available after September 1st will be distributed evenly among clubs with a waiting list starting with the club with the most participants on the waiting list.

A minimum deposit of $75 is required to hold your spot. All payments are non-refundable, it is your responsibility to sell your spot if you have paid and cannot make the track day. Final payment is due no later than October 7th or you will risk losing your spot. All payments can be made to events@wrxatlanta.com. Please include your screen name with your payment.

If you plan on attending this track day, post up so your name can be added to the list. Remember, no spot is considered reserved until you have made either the down payment or paid in full.

    Arrival and Inspection:
Those attending the event need to be at the track no later than 7:00am CST. Tech inspection will start once the gates are open and the drivers meet will start at 7:30am. If you miss the driver's meet and/or tech inspection, your track sessions will be delayed until it is taken care of.

Tech inspection will check for the following:
    • Safe level of tire tread (no bald tires)
    • No loose objects in or on car (change, radar detector, etc)
    • No loose wiring or hoses
    • Properly working restraint system
    • No leaking fluids
    • No missing body panels
    • No cracked rotors
It is recommended that you do not use drilled rotors on the track as they are prone to failure under extreme heat. It is also recommended that you upgrade to a DOT4 or higher fluid (note that DOT5 is synthetic and not appropriate for use on most cars with ABS). Your car should be in good working condition and inspected by your or a mechanic before the day of the event to ensure that all goes smoothly.

Participants and their guests are expected to behave in a respectful manner at all times, particularly when arriving at and leaving from the event
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ANNOUNCEMENT:

We have had a few participants inquire about refunds since they might not be able to attend the event. The other clubs organizing this event have had similar requests brought to them. However, the event has already been paid for. We are not making a profit. In fact, each organizing club has already put money out of pocket to cover remaining balances. Hence, unfortunately, we will not be able to offer refunds.

We will try to find people to fill your spots. However, it would be best if you can find replacements. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. If you have any questions, feel free to PM either Alex or myself.

The rules stated no bald tires. Does this mean street tires only?

In the past DOT slicks are fine, as along as there are no cords showing.... I'm sure Alex will clairfy this.

Just wondering, what's a GOOD lap time out there for a street car?

On the old track anything sub 70 secs was fast; I heard times are similar on the new track.

^^ That would be most excellent, total domination. Is the new drivetrain a similar setup?

Being away this summer, my involvement in planning these events has been limited. But based on the eligibility criteria we had agreed upon before I left, I don't see why you should not be able to represent our team. :)

Sweet I will see what I can do about making the event. We ran 62.9 there on the new course in onelap trim. I am sure now with R compounds, less weight, and more hp we should be able to run under 60secs.

Supposedly there will be a 300WHP NA S2k at the event. Should make things interesting...

  24. FTZ

    FTZ ^.^

Are we allowing spectators. If so, I will come and watch. Can't afford to run at this time.

There was a 350WHP turbo S2K last time I was there lapping at 72 seconds...

There was also a MX5 (Miata) with coilovers and a Panoz driver lapping at 72 seconds...

    Sorry for the delay :)

Spectators are just fine, make it a family event. Pack a lunch!

Doug, regarding the Brighton -- bring it! Much like everyone else Id love to see the car out on the track. Its a Subaru driven by a member of WRXAtlanta so its 'legal' ;)

    Any other questions?

We contemplated placing restrictions. However, clubs like Redline are not make/model specific so to enforce make/model restrictions would be futile.
