Damn Subaru's frameless window!! THE F---ing theives pried open the passenger window and took my stereo. total damage is near $2000... Only problem is that i'm not sure how my insurance (nationwide) will cover my afterter market stereo... That freaking bastards cut all the wires and just ran away. Three of cars were broken in the same night. I'm beginning to hate my apt neighborhood. I still gotta stay here till I graduate. Wish me some lucks, guyz. damn dude that sucks...my car got broken into a few weeks ago also. insurance should cover the stereo no questions asked, as it was bolted down and part of the car. good luck dude
to verify you had what you say you had, they will require a receipt of said stereo. Otherwise, you're screwed. -who has had 2 cars broken into and 2 stereo's stolen.
Depends on the type of coverage right? I feel your pain man. Someone tried to break into mine earlier this month. They couldn't get in but caused about $1500 in damage.
I do have full coverage, but my concern is that this is aftermarket part (not from factory for Insurance company point of view). Are they still obligated to compensate the damage?? I do have receipt for this. I'll definately have to invest on alarm system. Factory one is just useless.
I have full coverage with progressive. My policy had a default $1000 coverage for aftermarket parts (I didn't pay extra for this coverage). When I had my accident, they covered my catback and some other parts. I didn't have to show receipts since the parts were still on the car, only damaged. I had to show them advertised pricing for the damaged parts so they could compensate accordingly. In your case, since the aftermarket part is gone, you might have to show a receipt.
they will give you whatever you paid for the stereo. whatever is on the receipt is what they will give you. Or they will replace the stereo with the same one or comparable model
Dam dude sorry to hear that, insurance should cover it. like I say always take pics and keep receipt when upgrading -Got :fawk: for not doing it on another car that got totaled and broken into.

stupid thieves I feel your pain, Same thing happened to me Friday before last. Broke driver side window off and hid it in the bushes. Then just sat in the car and unscrewed everything like they owned it. Got my pioneer z1 and scratched the hell out of the center console and door. Finally getting the car back this evening and he stereo should be replaced this week sometime. 2 other cars where hit in my area that night. just another bad Friday morning. I remember seeing someone who had put together a face plate/cover for the double dins. Going to look into that again. Make it look like there is nothing there. Hopefully that will deter those who look in. -adam

oops missed Shmali's post above, he's my roomate. My car was broken into the day before his at my work, not the subie though thank god. Stole my IPOD the bastards!
