ok guys, I am going to sign up, it just wont be for a week or two. ive got a few things I need to take care of first, so leave me alone dammit.
can someone please go to the NASIOC thread and explain to people why it's not legal for them to run meth during the race. Unless it is. I would think that it's not, but they don't understand why. Or, explain to me, and I'll be more than happy to explain to them Thanks!
15.10(C)(2) states: "Except for standard parts as defined in these rules, the external use while on course of liquids, ice, dry ice, refrigeration systems, vaporized compressed gases, etc. to reduce the temperature of the intake air charge is prohibited. Wrapping of intakes with liquid-soaked fabric is not permitted." There you go ..... FYI if you are running meth you may not pass tech with the saftey stewards
You know what they say, don't mess with Texas... Hey you...reading this...have you signed up yet. Hmm, then my next question is a short one... WHY!?!??!?! Go sign up, stop drinking your beer, stop surfing the intraweb and just go sign up...durn it.
youre a texas fan keith? cause i know ped isnt, and obviously alex and milo arent...and jt is a gator...so that leaves what...you and kris? dammit ped, why dont you make it a tiger...we can both live with that <---too lazy to change it

Brett, I am from Texas.... so I actually am a Texas fan, just a bigger Auburn fan. The tiger avatar wouldn't work. The E-thugs are having too much fun with you. :naughty:
I've just pmed the chief of saftey about this.... Fuel pumps are not the same as alcohol injection..... and anything that is not listed in the rules is prohibited automatically. It's the other way around for SCCA club racing though
^^ does this mean that we can have it in the car, but turned off. 'Cause, if you're not even allowed to have it in the car, then I'm dq'd already. Also, it sounds like heat wrap on the intake isn't allowed??
It is actually a requirement in the safety section (page 28 of the rulebook): Is it specified by the OEM? Water injection systems are allowed in SP and SM. -- Brian
It's in a JDM OEM container.... So I guess I'm good since I'm in SM. I'll just show up and let them dq me if necessary.
I would just empty out your tank and turn it off for the challenge.. I don't think a full tank of methanol in your trunk would pass tech.
What about this rule? According to this and a couple people who auto-x in other regions allow it, it's perfectly fine for SM, not a Street Prepared class
Fuel pump is not an alcohol injection.... the issue is mainly safety. As soon as the head safety steward gets back to me I'll post up his response. In my personaly safety steward opinion you will be fine if you turn off the meth, and eithe fill your tank with water or empty your tank completely.
the reason this came up is due to some people being tuned with meth. If it's just used to spray the intake for cooling purposes, and it uses the OEM IC spray tank then they shouldn't have any issue with it.
The issue is the alcohol as well as spraying while on course. While in grid people are free to cool their tires and engines/intercoolers with water. However while on course it's imperative to keep it clean of liquids that might either a) wet the course and change the conditions of the course or b) act as a slick that would endanger both car and course workers. Again this is entirely a safety issue.
Alcohol is not sprayed externally, but internal to the intake/IC system, so it isn't an issue of getting fluids on the course. Water injection is perfectly legal, and can be used at all times. The issue is the alcohol is quite flammable, especially if running 100% meth, that this creates a possible fire hazard, which is why it is in the safety section disallowing alcohol injection, unless was OEM for that car, which it is not for Subarus. -- Brian
I don't understand why they will specifically ban some things, but at the same time say that things that are not covered are banned by default. Why not just leave everything banned off the list?
