The engine is finally ready to go back into Bobby's car tommorow. After I am done with it I will be pulling the engine from my car to swap the heads. Anyone who wants to come by and hang out is welcome. I'll be starting at 9:00 am and closing shop at 4:00 pm.
I'm over here damn it. I'll be doing my engine swap today as well. THEN I'll be breaking EVERY rule in the book with the new engine. aka synthetic oil with zero miles, and autox tomorrow.
if I come by can somebody help me install my hella's? They have been sitting in my trunk since the group buy
Got Bobby's car back together but didn't get a chance to get my engine out. We had the engine in by 12:30 and then waisted the next 3 hours screwing around with the ac and power steering. At first glance they looks the same but I ended having to use the ones of the old engine. Still have some wiring to do and we are waiting on a downpipe to be fabricated before we fire it up.
I got mine done. Did 6.1 miles of ring seating...then put the Motul in and packed the car for tomorrow. STU here I come!
So you needing some help tomorrow Mike? I'm down for turning some wrenches if you want to get your car going. Let me know
Going to try this again on Saturday (8/18). All that's left on Bobby's car is the downpipe and the tmic. Should take no time at all to get those done and then it's on to pulling my engine and getting the heads off. Again, anyone is welcome to stop by and lend a hand or just hang out. I will be getting started around 10:00.
If I can manage to get my new stuff ready to go Ill try and install them there. Otherwise, I will be shuttling Bobby up there around noon
Its running but it is throwing some codes. I think they were some of the ones below. P0076 OSV Solenoid Valve L Circuit Malfunction Low P0077 OSV Solenoid Valve L Circuit Malfunction High P0082 OSV Solenoid Valve L Circuit Malfunction Low P0083 OSV Solenoid Valve L Circuit Malfunction High btw do you have an sti flywheel? When we pulled my engine we discovered that mine is pretty much destroyed.
Which valves are these? I'm pretty sure that I got all of the AVCS wiring done correctly and thats the most likely culprit since everything else was untouched.
I was hoping they'd be in EZ36 FSM...but they are not.....since the EZ36 is dual AVCS and all. Nothing in the 50~68 range, then it jumps from 68 to 108 in all the other 2004+ FSM's with AVCS coverage.
grrr, my IAperformance harness was completely backwards. Everything on the ECU side was correct but the pins on the engine side were mixed up between sides. The big pins were supposed to fit on the passenger side, the smaller ones that I thought were supposed to go over there fit right in but are too small for the male pins to slide into. Now I need to figure out how to get the incorrect connectors out of the harness and splice in some of the bigger Mullen (sp) connectors. The gray E1 plug wont even snap back together, thats the obvious problem now. I can hear the driver's side AVCS turning on but passenger side is disabled, hopefully I'll have this resolved within a day or two.
