The problem is mostly noticeable at highway speeds (say 70mph and up), although I'm sure its there at lower ones. Basically the wheel shakes side to side pretty quickly and the closer I get to 80 the worse it gets. If I try I can hold onto the wheel tightly and it shakes significantly less. Still I am curious as to what the issue is. Just need an alignment? It's been doing it for awhile, but I've been to busy/lazy to get it fixed. I first noticed it after a brake pad replacement about 2k miles ago, but for some reason I didn't turn around and make them fix it. :hsnono:
yeah, did all that. Balancing the pressures help a bit and the lugs were tight. Wheel balance crossed my mind. In that case does anyone know of a decent shop around the Gainesville area to go get that done?
alright I got them balanced. It did help a lot, but there is still a small amount of shake going on. Normal or did they not quite get it right? Also a more noticeable development, its shaking bad under decent braking but only until about 25mph which itn kind of disappears. I thought it was related to the wheel balance, but it's obviously something else
You could also have some loose suspension components, especially if you hear noises when the wheel is shaking.
yep! Can now brake with ease and no more hand/body massages when I drive highway speeds Must say this has been one expensive week for balancing tires:eek3: and thankfully those rotors were out of spec, I'd been wanting those done for awhile :hs:
