http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lj3iNxZ8Dww I don't even have words to explain this airhead just watch!
Wha..?? :eek4: Whoever does needs to be reeeeeeeeaaally careful.... We don't need any of her puppies on this planet..
I can't believe how this person replied: As an American I can say she is pretty typical of the 'South'. People from the southern states are by far the dumbest people ever to exist on earth. Most common house plants are smarter than the average "southerner". We are looking into why they are so #$ing stupid. If there is no cure we will simply pave over the southern states and turn it into a theme park. Pretty sad, huh?. Mark
Unfortunately, when you exit large urban/city areas and travel into the 'boondocks' or other small towns, etc etc....what is said up there is true. I know first hand because I came from one of those places. Fortunately neither one of my parents were originally from where we lived, thus I did not turn out like 90% of the rest of the population of the town. The deep southern schools tend to focus on religion, livestock and other farm activities, poor automotive programs, have small English and foreign language programs, and in general do not focus on the real world or any real science at all.
After watching the video again, I think she may have had a bad case of stage fright or shock, so she might not really be that clueless, but regardless it's still hella funny to watch. I'll have to agree to disagree about the intelligence of the average southerner. I think stupidity is everywhere. I've lived in Missouri, Michigan, North Carolina, Virginia, and California too, and it' was not hard to find someone who was rock stupid in any of the metropolitan or rural areas of any of the states I mentioned.
Whatever, I'd cut her some slack. When's the last time you had to answer some weird question like that in front of national TV? She can't slam americans saying "because they're lazy" so her hands were tied there. Basically most answers would've insulted someone so she gave a politicians answer, i.e. no real answer & a bunch of filler.
I laughed so hard at that, but I have one question. How the hell did she get off on the subject of South Africa? lol
i have to agree that no matter where you go, there are going to be dumb people, just a fact of life. but i also tend to side with Will in the fact, that 90% of the rural schools systems in the south (and i would even throw in colleges that aren't near a big city, like Georgia Southern and the like. I know because I go to school there), are UBER-CONSERVATIVE and will generally tend to focus on beating religion, and other useless rhetoric into the students. Basically they have the blinders on. It took me a year to convince one of my good friends that Georgia Southern wasn't the best school for her if she wanted a degree in Women and Gender Studies. Coming from Statesboro originally it was hard for her to leave, but she eventually saw how stupidly conservative the place was and that GSU was the FARTHEST thing from a "LIBERAL" Arts college.
+1 There are stupid people everywhere, it is easy for non-southerners to point the finger at a specific region; this makes them feel like they can isolate ignorance and stupidity and walk away from it. Even as they see idiocy all around them, non-southerners can just say "stupid redneck" and pretend like they are not one themselves.
Well South Carolina is the 50th ranked state in school systems in America. (Georgia moved up to 49th!!)
woohoo. they switch back and forth every year. I remember a couple of years ago having a funny conversation (actually kinda sad) with a friend about that. Chatham County/Savannah public schools (where i'm from) are ranked the worst in the state, and Georgia was ranked worst in the nation. Groves high school had the lowest SAT scores in the county. So we determined theoretically of course, that if you had the worst SAT score at Groves, then at that point in time, you were the DUMBEST STUDENT IN THE NATION. the reason i am glad i went to private school.
I kinda feel bad for her, but I do kinda see where she was coming from. The education in SC is god awful. Also, I bet she brought up South Africa and Iraq because those girls are usually trained on what to say about each subject that is presented to them, and most of them probably would use current event topics such as Iraq

I was just a bit surprised that someone would say something that demeaning towards the south. I bet the guy that posted that was just as bad. I think that the poor girl just had stage fright. I would cut her some slack like brian said. Mark
she prolly shat herself after that.lol yeah stage fright is a bitch. one of my problems before when making speeches in front of an audience, was saying "um" fifty billion times. it's a different story when you're in front of a huge ass crowd.
Oh, I totally agree Will, but I just think that the person who said that comment was truly an a-hole for saying that...people are very quick to judge, but god forbid if it comes back to them.....that is what makes me very mad at today's society in general. Mark
she got into miss america BECAUSE she wanted to be famous. the TV camera comes with that. her waist size is larger than her IQ. at a beauty pageant... what a surprise.
Ok, look at the lady on the left, what the hell? She must sleep in the tanning bed. Does anyone find that remotely attractive?
tanning bed?! more like microwave! I like the guy with horrible grammar who was bashing the Southerners for their lack of education. Pompous looser....
Hmmm I disagree. You are basing what a few people have said vs the general population. I'm from the boondocks of SC. I went to a school in the middle of farmland and my grad class was only 60 people. Most all of us all went to college and are working successful jobs. That percentage that everyone is classifying is very small. At least for my area of SC which is Horry County. But yeah she fumbled that question all up....that made no sense. I bet she was very very very nervous. Stage fright can do some wierd things.
