does anyone have a recommendation for a decent place in atlanta (or should i be buying online?) to get a cheap motorcycle helmet for autocross? also, i'd like to get one that has a high enough safety rating that i don't have to replace it in like a year or two due to it being obselete. getting a helmet is pretty much the only thing holding me back from signing up for this!
Atlanta region provides "loaner" helmets.... no reason to buy one for this event! If you want to purchase a helmet it must be SNELL 2000 (either MA or SA). Helmets with only DOT rating will not bet allowed. But seriously you don't need a helmet for any Atlanta region event, the only thing you need is a car in decent working order and any tires that do not have visable cord.
fantastic, i'm sold! thanks for the help. i'll probably get my own helmet later on, since i plan to autocross alot, but this is perfect for me right now.
RFR Racing supply usually shows up to our events; they have a basic open faced helmet that's Snell approved for around $70.
Alright - so I think I might actually sign up for this - we'll see how things go over the next month or so... Need to do a few things to the car first (gotta do the brakes, etc) and hopefully i'll have time before then! O Worst case scenario I'll definitely come out and watch...
