They go that fast because if they stop they are targeted by "terrorists". IUD's are harder to set off and hit a humvee if they are moving fast.

I showed this to my boss (ex marine capt., now retired major, fought in Iraq for a while) and he explained that when driving through cities they avoid stopping at all costs. Steve (my boss) has 2 purple hearts from being wounded by IEDs in Iraq. Insurgents often stage car accidents to stop/trap Coalition forces for an ambush or to get them to stop next to cars w/ explosives.
I would be the same way thought I would hate to be stopped over there in traffic and get all shot up... Thank you to all of you that sever!
