I noticed a noise sounds like a pop, well pop sounds bad more like a creak. I can make it happen just about anytime and it is definitely coming from the passenger rear wheel area. lets assume I am in a parking spot, I put it in reverse as i let out the clutch to load the entire drive line I hear it from the right rear. As soon as I am out of the parking spot I put it in first let out the clutch there goes the noise again. Always happens if I go reverse then forward but never reverse reverse or fwd fwd. Any ideas what it could be?
I'd check the axle nut Does it also happen when you are driving in 1st gear and toggle the driveline from accel to decel and continue back and forth?
^^hahaha in time my friend. Milo I will give it a try, but it does it with very little load. Right as the vehicle starts to move whether fwd or backwards.
For real man, and let me know so I can lend you all assistance like you gave me with my swap. If not I'll just hang around and drink beers. Have you checked CV axles?
It does not seem to happen when I do as you described...well if it is I cannot hear it. I can however do it *EVERY* time I go reverse then forward basically back and forth...like said above as the tire starts to move a slight pop, sounds like some one knocks on the rear fender.
So it happens anytime the car's weight pitches forward and backward...I had a similar noise, I thought it was a blown strut. However, since you just had your's rebuilt, I'd check the endlinks...Mine turned out to be loose and the noise magically went away.
Get under there and check bolts, its amazing how loud a loose bolt can be. I had a loose bolt on the my right front strut after some repairs, of course that was up-and down motion, and yours is front to back motion. But hey, wouldn't it be nice if it were that easy, just tighten a bolt?
What kind of repairs were they? I have a LOUD *clunk* going over speed bumps or other things that are enough of a bump that started about a week after I had a control arm/hub/bearing replaced at SoG on the FR tire... Also a little bit of the same sound if I pull enough out of first. I'm so effing busy at work I don't know when I'll be back out there, how much trouble was it to get to? Right size wrench and the jack enough tools to fix it?
Did you ever find out what this was? I was thinking axle nut also and those are only like 3 dollars each so its worth a shot
I have the same problem, I'm gonna check that soon as I get home. Hopefully it just needs to be tighten.
